  • Thanks OMO. He had them about 7 years ago and morphine was the only thing that worked for him too. He says the pain's not as bad as it was then. He had a scan last week (he's undergoing treatment for pulmonary embolism at the moment), so they'll show up on the results. It's not been a good 6 weeks for him, health-wise, so I'm glad that Christmas Day was good for him (and me).

    Hope your day's going well...

    Hiya

i have just found this thread as I really really need to be organised next year! I left things abit late this year with presents, I did start early back in October with a few homemade gifts and ordered some gifts off a site at work that we gain points for but then life got in the way, illness, birthdays, then two unexpected trips abroad with work equals a very stressed me shopping last weekend for everyone else!

First half of the year, about 90% of family have birthdays before June so will concentrate on them first then Christmas 13. In 2012 I discovered that I am ok at making home made gifts so really gonna try and do much more next year as I found it much more pleasurable than buying something.

Will post as I go.....3 weeks to go until the 1st birthday of the year....gonna hunt the bargins online! Mrs Bunny x x

Happy Boxing Day everyone! Had a fabulous Christmas wih family and best presents ever. Now just me and DH, chilling at home and watching bits we've recorded from the tv over the past couple of days. Dog-sitting DD2s chihuahua until the new year as well as our own Jack Russell terrier and both happily asleep in their beds with full tums.

I usually find that once the big day is over I'm desperate to get the decs down and clear everything ready to start the new year.....but, this year I'm still feeling Christmassy and loving the tree and decs so, woo hoo, they're staying up a bit longer.

Big hugs to everyone whose Christmas didn't go as well as it should have :grouphug: and hoping next year will be so fabulous for you it will help make up for it.

JJ - keeping everything crossed for Turbo's safe return.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

This has been my best grown up Christmas ever :D

I feel a bit teary thinking of how lucky I am. This year DH is healthy (he has a chronic illness that is steadily improving), DD is old enough to find everything so exciting, and DH was aware of how disappointed I have been after the last three Christmases (sickness, sickness and delayed gifts, missing gifts and sickness) and he and DD completely spoiled me with gifts and kindness. I have a ridiculously beautiful eternity ring, exactly what I would have picked, a new sewing machine, a keyring with 200 pictures of DD and us loaded onto it, some books, a calendar and two flotation sessions. SO lucky.

And today we had friends over for brunch. We do this every year, I am considering hosting at a Chinese restaurant next year, we are completely, ridiculously overrun with leftovers.

Oh, and I have bought cards and wrap for next year, my mother's gift to me involved a substantial number of gift tags :D and I have bought stocking fillers and party bag stuff for 2013 as well as a couple of small gifts. Need to spreadsheet them properly later on.

Well I did alot of lurking and not much posting on the 2012 thread, and struggled to keep up after holidays :( so I vow to pay more attention for 2013 :) Thanks OMO for starting up the new thread.

Subscribed and ready to go :)

Hope everyone had a lovely festive period and lots of love and hugs to those in need

  • Welcome to all the lovely new people, I didn't join the last thread until November, but I can testify that everyone is wonderful and supportive :)

2011 I was so ill over Xmas that I ended up keeping my scarf on all day, 2012 I have also been really bad and even given in to taking medication. As I am never ill, I think that the stresses of Christmas may be responsible - never again!

Have £75 worth of John Lewis vouchers to spend and am hoping to get some wonderful bargains online :)

Quick question to you all; what do you think about recycling gifts? Each year I get birthday and christmas presents that aren't really my thing. I do appreciate the gesture, but feel sad that I don't appreciate the gifts themselves. What do you think about passing the gifts on to others for Birthday/Christmas (if it suits the recipient obviously). I am tempted to do this as it will save me money, and the gift will go to someone who uses it, but I'm worried it's a bit wrong?
