I lurk on these threads all the time, but as I plan to start Uni next year and become an impoverished student, I need all the help I can get to make Christmas, and indeed the whole year a money saving affair. (I'm back off to look at all the links now)
15 crafts for 2015 challenge.
Christmas 2015 - started to save/wrap!0 -
Evening all, Merry boxing day! Just want to say thanks for all the links so far, love them!
Now off to change my picture and signatureHobnobs are like marines0 -
Hiya blackcat join feisty and I. We have a pact never to have a Christmas Eve like this one. We will kick each other !!! and make sure we are ready. If we stick together and encourage each other we will easy do it. But keep reminding me of that pleassseeee xxx
I need in on this pact too!! Ended up BF had to help as I was working!Had a lovely day yesterday but OH woke up in agony at 4.30 this morning. After telephone conversation with out-of-ours doctor my father drove us to the hospital. Probably kidney stones! OH on strong painkillers and back in bed. Mum and dad have gone home and I'm left feeling a bit down. Hate seeing him pain - all I can do is keep providing hot water bottles and liquid.
Hope your Boxing Day is better than mine!
Hope OH is ok! I wasn't well at all on christmas eve night and most of christmas day itself with stomach ache (self inflicted as I hadnt been taking my tablets to keep a stomach problem at bay!) Ended up taking tramadol at 6am and made for a very interesting morning lolFeistyFidget wrote: »Welcome to all the lovely new people, I didn't join the last thread until November, but I can testify that everyone is wonderful and supportive
2011 I was so ill over Xmas that I ended up keeping my scarf on all day, 2012 I have also been really bad and even given in to taking medication. As I am never ill, I think that the stresses of Christmas may be responsible - never again!
Have £75 worth of John Lewis vouchers to spend and am hoping to get some wonderful bargains online
Quick question to you all; what do you think about recycling gifts? Each year I get birthday and christmas presents that aren't really my thing. I do appreciate the gesture, but feel sad that I don't appreciate the gifts themselves. What do you think about passing the gifts on to others for Birthday/Christmas (if it suits the recipient obviously). I am tempted to do this as it will save me money, and the gift will go to someone who uses it, but I'm worried it's a bit wrong?
RECYCLE most def! I have a box upstairs of small gifts that either "isnt me" or is stuff I got on sale that can be used throughout the year - makes secret santas etc very easy!
Went shopping today managed to pick up 2 tops and a shirt (the one I had been eyeing up last month but refused to pay full price for so glad I stuck to my guns!) Started on presents for 2013 too. So far got something for my sister and her OH and my auntie and uncle. Got all my wrappin paper and tags from M&S and going to raid card factory tomorrow for the cards.
Got to get back to losing weight now after pigging out between yesterday and today so have planned a 3 mile round journey into town tomorrow to pick up more sweets to finish my nieces sweetie tree ready for her birthday party at 4pm tomorrow!
BF commented how "MSE" I was today. used christmas money to buy tops, undies and gym bottoms for BF. Went to boots got nieces birthday present from a voucher I got from a client in work (working out free) and used my advantage card plus the sale to get a new hairdryer (aparently felt very weird walking out of a shop with bags of stuff and paying nothing - I then pointed out we actually got points added to the card with nieces gift so effectively not only was it free but with points will effectively get something back from it too lol) Went to argos and got new microwave and food processor only adding £8 to it and then a duvet in sainsburys half price which I had to pay for. So came home with roughly £145 of items for £25 of our own cash
Have also set up an online christmas budget document and filling up nicely! Dreading work on Friday have had such a lovely few days off but determined to make the most of tomorrow while BF is away back to work!Life is what you make it.0 -

I use google docs! Theres a search engine and typed in "christmas budget list" It gave me an American version which I used and just formatted the columns to read pounds instead of dollars
Very happy and glad to be starting 2013 on the right foot!Life is what you make it.0 -

ETA Done it. And it was a complete nightmare. In edit mode, it makes no sense at all.
just had to add - when I do this......copy the post (out of edit mode) into word.
re-paste into a writing box on MSE - change to the colours you want.
well thats how i do it.
OR if you are only using 3 colours simply 'go advanced' - and after 'color=' put the name of the shade you want instead of what is there.
HTH.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
OMO- Wow im so impressed with your list, that is good going for boxing day i am really going to have to buckle down this year and instead of starting September i will have to start asap, its so annoying though i never have any money for the sales grrr, by the way my birthday is 1st October
FeistyFidget - So sorry you were ill over christmas hope you are beginning to feel better now, and it isnt wrong to recycle gifts, i bet 95% of people do, and these days if it saves spending money its all good
BlackCat - So sorry to hear your DH is feeling so bad
Well i have had the most laziest Boxing Day ever! Its been great! I need to set my alarm tonight and get up and out early as i am meeting a dear friend for coffee who i havent seen for over a year, i cant wait to catch up face to face, as it is not the same over the phone, hope everyone has had a good day today.
