    Hi all,

I love all the Christmas chatter and I enjoy organising as much as I enjoy Christmas.

But I probably won't be buying any gifts etc. I have wrap and tags and cards leftover, and will do an inventory before I stash everything in the loft. My children are very young, too, so it's hard to know what sort of things they will like in a years time.

I do have a run of birthdays, now though (FIL, brother, DS, dad, stepmum, gran, mum, nieces) for the next 3 months. So I'll start on organising those first. Then my next thing will be DS bedroom. He starts school in September, and he's asked for a big boy bedroom. So we need to think about a proper bed (still in toddler bed) and what will work for hiss space.

So these are things I will be planning, probably till early summer, then I will start thinking about Xmas.

But I'd still like to join in!

    Away with the fairies
  • Ventured out into the shops this morning and managed to stock on half prices cards and wrapping stuff from Card Factory and Wilkos. M&S didn't have anything much but it is just a tiny store after all. Was thinking of having the cards/paper put up in the loft with the xmas decs but I will probably forget that it is there by next xmas and buy more which isn't very mse. :o

Popped into boots and they had a load of gift sets with 50% off - stuff which was 3 for 2 before xmas - so probably the saving wasn't as great as it first appears. Was looking for something to go with neice's birthday cash but I was just so indecisive - I was annoying myself let alone DH.

Think I will take a few more pressies upstairs in an attempt to tidy up. :)

    Take care everyone

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello all!

My attempts to get prepared for 2013 so far include plans to turn my xmas cards into tags for next year and that's it so far. Still got over a roll n a half of wrapping paper I bought two years ago in the sales.

Had a peek round the sales at lunchtime..what a load of pap! I remember the days when the sales started on Jan 1st and almost everything was half price at least. (Am I getting old?)

Had a fabulous Christmas, mostly peaceful and mostly fun. Yesterday though at MIL's all the kids were playing on ipads and ipods and laptops, the men were watching footy/sky sports on smartphones, all ignoring each other, leaving me and MIL suffering children's films on TV and reminiscing about the days when we got toys and games for Christmas forcing visitors to play Mousetrap or Buckaroo or watch your magic tricks shows, and how we spent the whole day outside on new bikes or rollerskates or pushing new dolls in prams even though it might be raining. I really am getting old!!!!

Can I join?? Long time lurker and occasional poster on the 2012 thread. Christmas was horrendous this year after the wonderful norovirus reared its head Christmas eve, and hit all but one person - I dodged the bullet!

I'd like to do a quiet christmas in 2013, I spend most of it entertaining other people and cooking...oh and the washing up!

Oh and a massive thankyou to the wonderful linky, I've already been eyeing up designs for 2013!

Whooopieeeee!! New thread!! Thanks Linky, for starting it, and adding all of those wonderful links. I'm going to start looking at those over a slice of Christmas cake and a coffee later.

Had a fairly mixed Christmas really. The Hubs parents came over for their Christmas meal on Christmas Eve, and for the first hour it was like trying to get blood out of a stone getting them to talk! Goodness knows what was wrong with them. Felt very strained. So, whilst hub and I cleared the table, we left our 18yr old son nattering their heads off. Well, whatever he said, or talked about, did the trick, they were much more talkative when we retired to the lounge. Haven't dared ask what was wrong, for fear of upsetting the apple cart again..

Christmas day was just me hub and son, was a lovely relaxed day. We had another Christmas dinner, and I now fear I now resemble the size of a small planet! I swear I've got more boxes, tins and wraps of chocolate than Thorntons!

Boxing Day was a total blob fest. Total bliss. Have had a cleaning up day today and I'm off out into the sales tomorrow!! I've already reserved a couple of things in Dunelm and Sainsburys, which will come in handy for me next Christmas. A mini sandwhich cake tin from sainsbugs and Oval platter plates from Dunelm. Then I intend on looking for bargains galore ready for the gift box I've started for next years birthdays & Christmas!! See, you lot have me super organised already!

I've already stated on collecting for one hamper I'm going to do for my sister or niece.

Phew, sorry; didn't mean to get carried away whittering on there...

Hope you all have fun for the remainder of the Christmas and New year celebrations. And massive hugs to all that are feeling down at the moment. Have had moments like that myself this christmas, what with my cat Turbo still missing. I honestly don't think I'm going to see him again, and the thought of it breaks my heart. I miss him..

Right, will chuff off and go and get the washing out the machine as it's kindly bleeping at me to let me know it's finished! Charming eh...

I have almost all my 2013 shopping done :o :j (there is no slightly ashamed/secretly exultant smiley).

    Still need:

    Few stocking fillers
Have a middle-sized list of crafts to complete
Something from DD for DH for birthday & another for Christmas
[STRIKE]Another few middle sized gifts for DH from me[/STRIKE] Debenhams came to the rescue just now :D

I've not bought anything for my Dad, his cancer is in his lung and in the nerves and lymph nodes nearby and I am afraid of buying early and having a gift with no recipient.

If anyone sees any good man-type bargains please shout up :)

  • oooh shiny new thread thanks IMO. I was very spoilt over Christmas and am slowly trying to work my way through the chocs and other naughty things that are left over. Hugs to those whose days didn't quite go to plan. I have started on my present list for next year but not bought anything as I was very uninspired by the sales so far.
  • A very successful foray into Brighton. Went via Matalan and they had the Santa and penguin Christmas mugs that I REALLY liked before Christmas, all reduced to £2 so bought a load of them. They also had matching cookie jar which I bought youngest dd as a stocking filler. They had jewellery boxes reduced by 50% to £10 so bought 2 (1 in leopard print) for my nieces and 1 each for my dds. Finished off one niece completely after going to Boots, got her a zebra print hair dryer, half price and some lippies. She's at that age when the bolder the better!
Got loads of other bits in Boots, some for my Mum and some for my dds. Added bonus is points on boots card and paid for with cash back card too!
Feeling quite pleased with the start. Long may it last!!:j:j

Blimey Sugarspun, that is totally organised!! Way to go!!

*Is very envious of ^ organisational skills*

Lazysheep, good luck with the chocs. I think the unit my stash is on, is about to collapse. I ought to take a photo of all the chocs etc we've got to try to get through. I shall do that tomorrow!!

Am a little miffed. Just had a call from Dunelm, the platter plates I reserved are out of stock... *humph*

Tried another branch that I can justify the drive too, but they're out of stock also.
Ho hum.. Shall make that my mission during the year, or if I'm lucky, I might find some elsewhere tomorrow. Ooo!! TKMAXXIMUS I'll have a gander in there too..

Does anyone else's stomach feel like it's about to explode? :o

*wanders off clutching very full tum* (wouldn't mind, but we've not eaten our evening meal yet!) :rotfl:
