I'm getting abit sick and tired of listening to both my sister in law and my sister bragging on about their expensive holidays and how they are so looking forward to it and can't wait to get away from it best part of it neither of them have worked and its all what their husbands have earnt we haven't had a holiday now for 4 years life's a real struggle ones off on a 6 week cruise to the caribeean the others off for a month to the Far East I just feel we're having our noses rubbed in it best part my sis in law remarried and in my opinion was gold digging her first husband never did her any harm that I know of and she up and left and within a year she was remarried
We got a nice house and wonderfull children but I'm just sick of struggling and listening to tales of big holidays cars etc when I last saw my sis in law I was shown the latest acquirment the new cars not one but two we worked out at a cost of £50k I wouldn't mind it's just they won't bloody stop goin on about it all

If what they value in life is the proceeds of legalised prostitution, then they've got to have a way of enjoying it to its fullest, haven't they, including places to boast about it?0

You can either go through life being green with envy or do something about your life that you dont like.
Its not thier fault that they live good lives. Change yours rather than being envious0 -
In my opinion those that brag about what theyve got or where there going etc are deep down not very happy people. I think weve all come across people in our lives like this. Ive had an email off an ex rubbing it in that hes off abroad for christmas (alone i might add) whilst i havent got a lot of money to do that which he knows.... but i do know what i have got, a loving family, great friends, security in my home and food in my fridge. I dont envy anyone, im happy now with my lot.0

What you see as bragging may just be relatives talking about a normal part of their lives; most people discuss their holidays whether it's a six week cruise or a week in Margate.0

There's bragging and bragging. If you are jealous, any mention of holidays or cars will be interpretated as bragging. They have a right to open their mouths and talk about the excitments of their lives.
If however, they make a point of going into fine details to you, saying things like 'don't worry, one day it will be you' or similar, then yes, that would be rude and unconsiderate and in that case, I would avoid them as much as possible.0 -

If it's more than just talking about their life and not realising the impact it has on you, it's a sign of insecurity. They might mix in a group where you have keep telling everyone else how much you've got in order to keep your place in the pecking order - very shallow!
If you can't get them to change the subject, restrict the time you spend with them.0 -
And really, it's just holidays and cars, you have your health, your family, a roof over your head and food on the table which is all you really need (and a lot more than some people have!)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
If they were truly content with their lives they wouldn't be bragging and rubbing your nose in it.
If you were truly content with your life and the choices you made you wouldn't resent their bragging and would be able laugh it off as insecurity and shallowness.
Think about this: their spending could be financed by credit and not savings. Therefore their day of reckoning will arrive eventually. And yours won't.
If you honestly think they are being unkind and patronising just cut contact. Then they will have to find other victims in order to make themselves to feel better about the shallow lives they lead. A person's true value is not measured by the money they spend or the things they acquire.0 -
When and where does this bragging take place? If it's on Facebook, just hide their status updates. If it's in real life, just go into another room if possible, failing that you will just have to grin and bear it.0

One family friend of mine has married a nice wealthy man. Going on about spending £3k+ on curtains for one room that their interior designer is having made for them.
Later I asked if the chicken she had bought was free range. Good god no! Cheapest of the cheap, you can't even taste the difference anyway!
Just shows what people are like. Thousands of pounds on curtains, but not even £1 more so a poor chicken can see a bit of daylight in its short life
There was a comment made about how they would never buy cheap crap curtains from Argos or Primark, oh no way! Words stung a bit as I looked at my nice Argos curtains hanging upAt least I know I worked hard for all my possessions and furnishings, I didn't marry into 'nice' things x
Can't think of anything smart to put here...0
