i LOVE this thread
someone today is nearly always making something that i can cook tomorrow!
at this rate i will have enough in teh freezer that in feb i wont need to cook fresh at all - nor shop!0 -
Well, I've dug my slow cooker out of the cupboard and made a steak chilli for tonight's tea, using stewing steak that was RTC in Mr T's last week (froze it until yesterday). Used fresh chilli, cumin, smoked paprika and a wee bit of cinnamon in my spice mix - hope it's not too hot
Not going to add the peppers and kidney beans until later on this afternoon though, otherwise they'll be mush
We'll have it with rice, creme fraiche and salsa this evening. :j0 -
Did carrot and coriander soup overnight.
Carrots
Onion
potato
1 tsp ground coriander
veg stock........just need to blitz and add fresh coriander
I've defrosted some pork loin steaks for tea tonight but never done them in sc before. Do I need to brown them first? Do they go tender?0 -
Pork steaks can go in unbrowned. They go so tender they fall apart and you have to be careful not to do them for too long - but absolutely mouthwatering! I did mine in cider and apple sauce.Wendy x0

Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞0 -
Lovely smells wafting through the house from my SC at the mo! Potatoes, carrots, kidney beans, chick peas, split peas, lentils and pearl barley, stock, tomatoes, herbs and harissa plus water - it will make a lovely filling and warming stew ready for when the kids come in from school. Will serve with some couscous. SC holds 6.5l and it is full, bet that there isn't a lot left though, think we all need a bit of internal central heating at the mo, like the old ready brek ad!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
