Hi all,
I bought my first sc today:j and could not wait to use it.
So i have in mine....
Chicken drumsticks
celery
carrots
onions
garlic
chopped tinned toms
cannelli beans *sp*
Chicken stock
I plan on leaving it over night so fingers crossed we'll have something yummy to eat tommorrow.
Also just wanted to say thank you for the great ideas on this thread.0 -
sorry if this is in the wrong thread but quick question here
i always soak my broth mix of dried beans and pulses over night before throwing into slow cooker
is this necessary??
I see people say in numerous recipes on here that they threw in a handful of red lentils ---
have i been wasting time and effort? ( ok i know its not much time or effort but thats not the point lol )0 -
you need to prepare any thing like kidney beans chick peas etc yes but not red green or brown lentils, or split peas

Hi
I'm planning on putting layers of sliced potato and corned beef in my SC and covering with stock (which in theory should be yummy) but can I finish off in the oven just to give it a brown topping or will that damage the bowl ? (its a thick brown pottery one)
Thanks for any help

In mine today is a butternut squash which will be scooped out and made into soup this evening and be my lunches for the week.
I think my slow cooker book said that the pot is not oven proof and that the lid definitely isn't as it has plastic - but not 100% sure. I wouldn't risk it though as if it breaks then it kinds renders the slow cooker useless.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Hi - I put my slow cooker (morphy richards white porcelain) in the oven on Sat for 20 to 30 mins to cook some dumplings and it was fine. I'd read on another thread that the bowl would be ok but not the lid. And it was fine! Yay! And the dumplings were good too!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Maybe they put it just as a caution then - but my MR book says this:
"Do not put the crock pot or glass lid in an oven,
freezer, microwave or on a gas/electrical hob."working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
