I have been thinking about a sc for some time now and especially since reading all these yummy dinners. Argos have some starting at 19.99 euro for the cookworks one 3.5 litres, anyone recommend a good one not too expensive? Thanks

I hope it turns out alright as Ive just made it up as i went along and never cooked a brisket before!

Don't worry, brisket is superb when cooked in a SC.

Diced turkey, potato, sweet potato, carrot, swede and onion with half a packet sauce mix - we never use much flavouring as we tend to prefer plain food. I may invest in some worcester sauce though after reading this thread!

2/3 of it is for Monday's tea.

1/3 will be thickened with gravy granuals and made into a pie for lunch tomorrow (with new potatoes and mixed veg from the freezer).
  • The Morphy Richards black oval 3.5L is brilliant. I think Amazon are doing it for £19 at the moment with free delivery.

My SC seems to be burning stuff around the edges recently even if its on the slow/low setting? Does this mean there is something wrong with the SC? It was just a really cheapy one from Wilkinsons that I've had a couple of years.

I darent leave it on when Im not here so sort of defeats the object really
Do I need to invest in a new one do you think? :D

I am getting a 6.5l Morphy Richards for Christmas to go with my 4.5l one! Am very excited! :j It was reduced to £21 something on Amazon so a brill price if anyone wants one!
  • Oh thanks for telling us Nell! I think I need the bigger size as well as the smaller for when I do pieces of chicken or joints etc.

  • Oh and I did shoulder of lamb in red wine garlic and rosemary. The family loved it.

I hope you read the reviews. Apparently this cooker gets hotter/cooks faster than most.
