Strange you should say that - doing something very similar meself!
Cooked a ham hock (just right for me for a dinner and a couple of days' sarnies - it's only me who eats meat in our house) in the SC Tuesday for dinner, then got the SC back on today with the stock, a little more water and the hambone, cooking away to make a nice, thick peasoup when I get in.
Crockpot-tastic, baby!Oh come on, don't be silly.
It's the internet - it's not real!0 -
Today I am doing pears (from my tree) in a little red wine, cinnamon stick and little sugar. Will serve with a dollop of thick cream.0

That sounds lovely Spicey. I've never cooked pears before. How long do they take in the slow cooker?0

Chicken legs and thighs, potatoes, carrots, onion and mushrooms, with wine, stock, herbs, paprika and garlic. I hope it turns out well. I've not done chicken pieces before - skin on but I pan fried them first.Wendy x0

The pears were hard, so I left them 5 hours on low. 1 tablespoon of sugar, but I have not got sweet tooth so too your own taste, 1/4 to 1/2 bottle red wine, I used some left from day before.
My SC have a well earned rest today!0 -
Can I thank whoever posted the idea about cooking a squash in the slow cooker. I tried it out today. Did the squash overnight and then converted it into a chicken stew this morning - leftovers naturally - and cooked that all day. We ate it with rice cooked in the remoska. Delicious0

I'm planning to make my first steak and kidney pie tomorrow. I got lambs kidneys because they were 15p for 3. I'm going to use stew steak, stock, red wine, herbs, etc but was wondering about the kidneys. Should I put them in from the start?
Vangirl - I've used pearl barley before and that was nice after a few hours in the sc, it really plumps up so you don't need too much. Not used lentils before though0 -
Ive just bought couple of books for slow cooker recipes. Its what goes with it? Say Stew/Casserole..can you put a few Potatos in while cooking it & then when you get back they be soft enough to mash? then you have your meal in there with the potatos as side? sorry if obvious or daft question!
