So long as your red beans are tinned, then yes throw everything else in. I put mine on low 6hours and medium 4hours.
Today in my SC I have beef stew mostly veg, but smells delic! Been on low since 10 a.m should be lovely by 6pm. Will add dumplings at around 5pm.:j
Ooh I didn't think about beans ... they are kidney beans in a chilli sauce (tinned) will these still be ok to add?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
That sounds like something I'd like to try. But without the mint.
Do you think any other flavour would work as well? Garlic and rosemary maybe?
I'm afraid mint is obligatory. Yum Yum mint sauce. I suppose if you absolutely had to leave it out (lord it pains me to type that) then yes garlic or rosemary would work well
I have a minor mint addiction.Weight loss to date - 8st 13lbs :j0 -

A really good rice pudding is 100g of pudding rice 100g sugar 1 litre of milk 20g butter
use some of the butter to grease pot. add all ingredients and give a stir. leave for about 4 -5 hours or till it is as thick as you want. I made this yesterday and DH would have licked the pot if he could:rotfl: everyone else enjoyed it too.
Sorry I know I have now quoted you twice but I have just served up 2 small bowls of delicious creamy rice pudding to my 2 children ... my daughter (18 months old) even tried to lick the bowl clean! :rotfl:
I used your recipe but I also put in a tin of evaporated milk then topped up with normal full fat milk to make it upto 1 litre ... 3 hours on high and it is perfect (I am using a tesco slow cooker!)
A million thankyous to you I feel so cleverRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Yes they will be fine. If you use dried red kidney beans you need to boil them first. As per instructions on packet. But tinned ones would have been boiled already.0 -

Last night we had:
1 tin kidney beans
1 tin baked beans
1 tin black beans
1 tin sweetcorn
2 tsp crushed garlic
tbsp each of cumin, chilli powder and oregano
cooked on low all day, and served with tortilla wraps. It was lovely, and neither of us are vegetarians!0 -
Yesterday I cooked a gammon in the slow cooker. I added chopped onions, carrots, leeks, black pepper, a splash of worcester sauce and a couple of bay leaves to flavour it. We had the gammon last night with baby potatoes, cabbage, peas and a cheese sauce.
Today I have reheated the stock in the slow cooker, thrown in some barley, yellow split peas, red and green lentils and then added some chopped up left over gammon. It's made a delicious hearty soup that I'll serve with homemade bread tonight.
