I got a slow cooker in the sale! I mad vegetable soup overnight the other night, and a spicy beef casserole lush in the cold!

I am going to get dressed (still in pjs lol) and make a turkey curry for tonight yum yum

Hello there. What model is it and where did you get it from. I'm thinking of buying one today. Several models at better than half price in Argos.

Is cooking in a slow cooked more economical that using a gas hob or electric oven, energy wise?

Oxtail Stew in mine today (2 packs of oxtail pieces - coated in flour and browned first , onions, carrots, swede, leeks, soup&broth/barley/lentils, beef/veg stock cubes, celery salt and dried mixed herbs) enough for today and plenty to freeze for another meal as well as tubs of 'Beef and Veg Soup'.

Will put dumplings in it later and serve with creamed potatoes.

Chicken stew - 4 whoopsied chicken thighs, carrots, onions, diced potatoes, mushrooms, pearl barley, chick peas, stock and tomato puree - I'll share it with Mum (DS is going out with gf) and still have enough to freeze.

Absolutely fab on a freezing cold day like today :D

Honey and mustard chicken joints (only got no honey, so substitued some mango chutney instead)
4 chicken joints (I browned mine, but it didn't say to do this in the recipe) honey (see above) mustard (I used english, but the recipe said dijon) and melted butter (I used some ghee)
6-8 hours on low (I'm doing it on med because I want it to be ready quicker)

Sausage casserole in my SC today :D.

I'm doing a double batch for freezer (hopefully I'll find room in freezer :o).

I had 2 packs of sausages in fridge that needed to be used by monday so I thought I'd use them for a casserole to freeze rather than just freezing them as they were.

Nothing in mine today as we're having byriani tonight from LO curry. Yesterday I did jacket potatoes - just wrapped in foil and cooked for about 4 hours. They were fantastic! :j

Tomorrow I have a large leg of lamb. Can any of you lovely people tell me how long roughly I should give it? I have the 6.5l MR SC - it never needs as long as some of the other makes but i've never done a joint of meat before. I was guessing at about 6 hrs on low maybe?

Was going to lay it on some carrotts, celery and an onion, pop some water in and then mash all those up afterwards to make the gravy, a la Jamie. Does that sound right?
