I've a HUGE gammon in the freezer I got in the sale after Xmas and am toying with Nigella's ham in ginger ale. We had it over Christmas and it was delicious....think that will be my weekend offering for the slow cooker after a chilli con carne

Did a "make shift" casserole in mine from random ingredients i had - lamb mince, onion, potatoes, stock cubes, tomato puree, worcester sauce and herbs!
    Was suprisingly nice :-)

Hi Annie, I was thinking the same... had a quick sniff round the internet and probably letting them thaw first is a good idea so they don't lower the temperature of the crock pot.... oh now found some that suggest putting all frozen in first!

    Anyone got any ideas?
I put peas in frozen at the beginning with everything else they are delish

apple crumble in mine - made it before, it was yummy :)
  • I love my slow cooker, what i usually buy is meat ie whole shoulder lamb(when on special) a stew pack, bisto and 2 tins of tomatoes and i chop some potatoes. I just throw it all in and i just love it when its done. Cant beat stews/casseroles in the winter. It also seems to go around a family and still have same again for another meal. It has got to be the most cost effective way to eat.

Nowt! its empty tonight and having a night off - it has been on in the daytime though for a change.

We had liver and bacon casserole and i pinched some of the meat out of it after it was cooked and whizzed it up with some butter in the food processor. I got 3 pots of liver, bacon and tomato pate to freeze to have on toast at a later date :D

I have a rack of pork ribs in the fridge and will hunt out the oriental pork recipe from my stash and cook them in the sc with the sauce from the book, they should turn out well.

Aren't slow cookers great in this weather? :)

I use my slow cooker all year round! It's great in the summer too because it doesn't make the house like a sauna and it means I have more time to play in the garden with my kids :j

I am exactly the same and I dont like to eat big heavy meals when its hot outside so sometimes just cold meat (cooked in SC first) and salad or even SC soup do me just fine :D And of course playing in the garden is great :D
Hoping to get a pea soup done in mine today - nommy
