    * 4 small potatoes cubed
    * 1/2 tin chick peas (rest in fridge... not sure what to do with)
    * tin chopped toms
    * curry powder
    * bay leaf
    * pepper

    I heated up the toms, curry powder & bay leaf and then added all to the slow cooker. I thought I'd give it 5 hours on high, fingers crossed it works :D.

    It worked - :drool::drool::drool: But *phew* tis a bit spicy ;)

    Oh oh - it's really really spicy!!! Whilst my mouth is on fire I'm thinking about how I can 'calm' the left over portions down - any ideas?

    Hoh hoh hoh hoh hot!!!

    MushyPeas: Try some coconut milk stirred in.

    I'm thinking of doing a curry tomorrow. I normally would use some sort of ready made sauce but I'm trying not to do that now. Anyone got any good recipies?

    Thanks Sui and waddy - will have to pop to the shops tomorrow!

    Waddy there are a lot of good recipes online, for example I normally just google the ingredients I have with 'curry' added and then select one.

  • Got a SC before xmas, and tried it once, first attempt was a bit rubbish, meat was alright but veggies were hard still, even on low for 12 hours! By what every1 else said about the Morphy Richards SC i expected it to be alright, but alas.

    Tonight had lamb shanks, on high for 6 hours, was absolutely brill! meat was delicious, straight off the bone, and veggies were scrummy. Very happy indeed :j In the fridge now, awaiting to be put on tomorrow morning before work, is a curry. Looking forward to it, and more SC recipes, going to try a soup this weekend. Thanks for all the tips so far on here. I can definitely reccomend using corn flour to make a thick ish gravy, very tasty, and also pearl barley made a nice addition.
  • we had a pork hock in ours today, delish, love my slow cooker

  • Hello guys, I am new to this part of the Forum and also to slow cooking, I bought mine on Thursday in Tesco for £17.99 in the half price sale after wanting one for ages and really not being able to afford it. So my new year resolution is to cook & eat better but also as cheaply as possible as I lost my job in November and funds are tight. So far I havemade a beef and sausage stew which was amazing if a little greasy due to the susages and tonight I made meatballs with mince I bought for a whole 77p :D and they tasted pretty good too. have had a wee quick look at the recipes and some of them look yummy can't wait to try them out. Anyway enough of my ramblings for now just wanted to say Hi :wave:

    I`m using the new smaller one and in it is 2 large pieces of shin beef, 2 large pigs kidneys, 4 small onions, an oxo made up with some water, salt, pepper and 3/4 of a can of guinness.

    Tomorrow when its all cooked and mouthwatering i`ll be making it into a steak and kidney pudding :D
