Don't worry. I haven't used any of the recipes included with my slow cooker. Just do a google, or look on this forum. Most one pot recipes can be adapted for the slow cooker.

A general rule is to put veg at the bottom as they take longer to cook, meat next, then just liquid to barely cover. If putting a joint of meat in, just put a cm or two of liquid at the bottom, as you'll get loads of juices from the meat.

Thanks - i not worried as i use my SC a lot and I mean a lot. I was just answering the previous poster who was saying they didnt get any recipes :D

ETA - Just removed the veg/oat/mince concoction that was cooking overnight and it smells lovely - drooling already

Yesterday i did the gammon in coke and it was gorgeous, afterwards when i put it in the oven post glazing my mouth was watering :D i shall slice the rest up and freeze later today, it has stood in the fridge overnight so i shall get the food slicer out and see how far i can make it go.

Later today i am going to wash out my new smaller sc that i`ve not used yet and make chicken chasseur, the older 6.5 litre one will be saved for the bigger stuff or when i want to make more portions, hopefully i will like the new smaller one so fingers crossed.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

We are not using the slow cooker today - having stuffed mushrooms, quiche (for those who will not eat mushroom) and a large salad.

Tomorrow hubby is getting liver and onions done in slow cooker.

May I have the details for the liver and onions please? Also, does it freeze well?

I put Turkey/Chicken carcasses in yesterday to make stock from. I've picked the bones/slimey bits/veg pieces out of it now and it's going in a saucepan to reduce down a bit.

When cooled I'll use some to make 'Leek and Potato Soup' and freeze the remainder in a lidded margarine container.

Lamb casserole with a sauce made from onion, leek, celery, garlic, 1/2 tin tomatoes & a cup of red wine. It smells wonderful & we're just waiting for the veg to steam, can't wait!

I bought a reduced chicken today so tomorrow I'm going to take off the breasts & legs & use the rest to make stock for a roast butternut squash soup for next weeks lunches. I'll cajun the breasts for tomorrow's dinner & freeze the legs for chicken cacciatore another day!

We bought our daughter & partner one of the £10 Tesco slow cookers for Christmas, I hope they get as much use out of it as we do. :D
