Hi all!
Just bought a slow cooker but it has no recipe book in box! Have got some good ideas from the thread regards what to put in it, but not sure of how long I am meant to cook it all for! Is their a good cookbook anyone can recommend? Thanks0 -

I just got a new Breville 6.5ltr SC from my parents for xmas.:j I've never used one before.
I've put in steak pieces, carrots, onions & some beef stock....I put it on Auto at 4.15pm, do you think it would be ready by 12 midnight?
I was hoping to let it cool down overnight so tomorrow I can skim off any fat, reheat it and add some bisto to make gravy. Going to serve with creamy mash, yorkies, mashed turnip & peas.
This meal usually goes down really well in our house, so I'm hoping it turns out well this time too....fingers crossed.

I picked up the Morphy Richards 6.5L for under £20 in the sales, so I finally own a slow cooker. :j
Made my first slow cooked whole chicken earlier today. Put it on a bed of lemon shells (had used zest/juice for drizzle cake - using the shells was a tip I picked up here), plus the green top of a leek, carrot ends/peels and a bit of cooking bacon. Took about four hours on high (started it too late for low - will try that next time) for a medium chicken, the meat completely fell off the bone. Drained the juices to make gravy, now the bones are back bubbling in the pot to hopefully make my first ever stock.0 -
Not in yet as waiting for mince to defrost (well actually its not even out the freezer yet )
Will prob do it overnight tonight and its going to be a bol mix that can be turned into spag bol/chilli/lasagne as needed
Will use 250g mince (woopsie bought for 19p), carrot, cougette, tin toms or passata, mixed herbs, onion, some red lentils and some oats to eek it out. Hopefully will get enough to freeze for a few mealsEmma
