I did a quorn chilli in mine - will easily get 10 good portions out of it total cost £5, plus a few spices already in stock. With rice/HM bread won't be no more than 60p per meal.

This morning I have one leek sliced, one stick of celery chopped up 1/2 pint turkey stock, 4 diced potatoes, shake of black pepper and about 11/2-2 pints of vegetable stock...put it in last night and it just needs blending for lunch - tastes Fantastic!

  • Hi

Has anyone cooked porridge overnight in their sc?
I know it might sound lazy but if I could pad downstairs at 6.30am and find a bowl of hot porridge it would make my day....might feel like goldilocks lol....Does anyone think there would be a problem cooking oats overnight?

    thanks

No, no problem at all - I've done this a few times. Just remember that you get very little loss of moisture with a sc, so you need to use less liquid. If it's still too runny in the morning, just turn the sc to high and let it cook for a few minutes with the lid off.

In my big one today I have steak pieces with onion and beef stock...making pie filling (DH's fave)

In the smaller one I've a red and green pepper, 2 red onions, a YS pack of diced chicken breast and a pack of fajita seasoning mixed with about half a pint of water poured over

Both on high for 4-6 hours. Fajita mix will be dinner tonight and pies are for dinner tomorrow.

The soup I had in last night was blended this morning with a handful of left over turvey....absolutely delicious with some crusty bread for lunch today!

Beef and veg stew, which I have only just put on high, so won't be eating until 6ish.

There will be a whole chicken overnight.

There is currently a nut and raisin loaf in the breadmaker and a strawberry easiyo on the go too. What a productive hour ...! I'll put a mixed granary loaf in later.

Eating some chilli from the freezer later made in the SC a week ago.

Got some ribe eye steak from market today - 17 good pieces for £15, :j
froze 12 and put 5 chopped in SC with oxo, bisto, black pepper and some onions for about 4 hours on low - is delicious made into 6 individual pies - only 5 left as daughter couldn't resist one.

Tonight I have a whole chicken with butter, lemon juice and some black pepper, will pull aprt tomorrow most for sandwiches but legs will go to make some chicken pies. So have about 6 lunches and 3 meals for the cost of £3.33 for chicken. (3 for £10 in tesco at moment) Oh and then theres the stock as well......which will make the basis of something.

Well my chicken is in now - also managed to bake a second loaf so the combination of chicken to pull apart and home made bread suggests some tasty sandwiches tomorrow … eat your heart out M&S ;)
