I didn't use a recipe. I just bought some mince, not sure how much but lean steak mince £2.88 so medium sized pack. One onion, one red pepper, teaspoon and half of hot chilli powder (as asda had no fresh chillis), 2 cloves garlic, one beef stockcube mixed with about a half cup of water, one tin chopped tomatoes with herbs, one dessertspoon of sugar, one and a half dessertspoonfuls of smoked paprika and one spoonful of instant coffee mixed with a little water. Oh and kidney beans added later which I forgot at first.
I don't know whether my little additions of a bit of coffee have made any real flavour difference but the whole combination works.
Sorry but I just tend to chuck things in and hope for the best.0 -

If you do something in the slow cooker like a bolognese or stew, do you leave the leftover in the pot and reheat it the next day to use again or do you put it in a tub and put it in the fridge/freezer?MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I left mine in the pot with the lid on for two days just taking out what I needed to heat up when I needed it, then I thought I'd better transfer it to the fridge. I don't reheat in the slow cooker as I dont think it gets hot enough, quick enough for that. Best to use a pan or microwave.
I guess most people would transfer it immediately to fridge when cooled.0 -

I don't reheat in the SC, so although I might store it in the SC bowl in the fridge I would reheat in a microwave.
Usually I freeze the surplus on the day and cook something else or take another out of the freezer.0 -
thanks I thought that but wanted to check, I go through phases of using my SC although it is always out on the side, its getting it all prepared in the morning as well as getting the kids and me ready for work!!MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

At the moment I'm very well prepared for the new breadmaking as I can throw the ingredients in and set a timer and know that if I don't there's none for breakfast!
But I guess I could also prepare veg etc for the SC in the evenings and put it in water - but I completely fail to do so! The only overnight SC I do is whole chicken.
Motivating children in the morning is simply exhausting isn't it?0 -
Last time I'd prepared everything to go in the sc in the morning then come home to a scrummy tea I only went and forgot to turn the bleddy thing on didn't I? As a realised when I got to work. :rolleyes:0

You're not supposed to, but I have done it once. I think its in case the correct safe temperatures aren't reached. Generally, I pop in the fridge once its cooled (this isn't till the morning sometimes), and just reheat in the microwave.0
