There's going to be a gammon 'lump' in mine later. Was thinking about doing the coke thing but I want to make a lentil and ham soup tomorrow so I need the stock, I don't like black bean soup so the coke stock would have ended up being wasted.
So it's just gonna be the gammon, onion, some carrots, and a bit of salt and pepper. I'll serve it with wedges, probably. Or possibly some cabbage and yorkshires, I'm not sure! Any suggestions?
Also, a quick question. Am I right in thinking that you only need a little bit of water - you don't have to completely cover the meet do you, just about half way up?? TIA

Today I have browned mince, chopped onions and courgettes, a tin of tomatoes and a tin of kidney beans in chilli sauce bubbling away in mine. Will freeze it up in people-sized portions.0

yesterday I did two large lamb shanks (well more like shoulders) which came out falling off the bone.
My only concern was that the gravy was very fatty, how can I get the fat off without letting it go cold first? I tried spooning it off the top for a while but it was taking ages0 -
Browned mince, onions, rich gravy, pepper, mixed herbs, some will make a family size pie and the rest will go into a cottage pie and be frozen in indivisual portions.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

I'd use some bread (or maybe kitchen paper) to absorb the fat......... But letting it go cold would be the most effective way - lamb fat goes almost solid when cold and would be a lot easier to seperate and handle. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
