Nothing slow cooked for us tonight. I made a spicy sausage and bean casserole (bit like a cassoulet) last night. I have some lamb mince and a couple of baking potatoes, so it is Shepherds Pie for us tonight. I am trying to keep the cost of each portion of food which I cook below £1. Unfortunately, when we get to the weekend, we are all "slow cooked out", and so I blow the budget on a nice rib-eye steak or something.

Helloooo - I know I asked this yesterday too, but does anyone else feel the need for more than one slow cooker? Different sizes?

I have the huge 6.5L one but am not using it as often as I would like as it's great for big stews with potatoes but if I want to just do a small curry or bolognaise it's so big and it would burn.

Am I silly if I get a little one too?

I have a large prestige one and a small cheapie Tesco one (think they are on offer for £10 at the mo).
The large I use for stew , Joints etc and the small for curries and spag bol etc.....
The only thing i would say though is that my Tesco one seems to cook a lot quicker than my large one, to the point of it bubbling lol.

I have tesco Value curry today! Although I accidentally open three tins of sauce instead of two as I thoought the other one was a tin of tomatoes! Plop!

I put some cauli, baby corn, mange tout, some scraggy looking trimmed beans, mushrooms and a onion in with some chicken.

Going to have it with Nann bread for dinner, yummy. I also got some of Sundays sausage casserole for lunch today.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

Hi, I have a 3.5L and find that is just the right size. I even freeze some of the meals as it is to much for one meal. Goodness knows what I would do with a 6.5L one - It would stay in the cupboard. I think it is a good idea to invest in a smaller SC.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Mines a 4.8 litre, and its just the right size. Not too big and not too small.

Nothing in mine today (I forgot to defrost the meat!).
