Used my slowcooker for the first time today-Only had a stew pack from morrisons with parsnip, swede and couple of carrots, onions. Browned it all off with some herbs and a little oil also added a large potato , veggie stock and variety of spices.Hope it's ok-My mum insists that my sc is no use to me and should be given away so I want to prove her wrong.Love can tame the wildest0

Had a ham going in mine all day.
It's cooled and sliced tonight ready for tomorrow nights dinner.
Made gravy with half the stock and am making lentil soup with the other half.(big 6.5L SC)
Soup has onions carrots and potatoes in it and will be on all night so it should be ready by lunchtime. Should do a couple of days with loads to freeze for the weekend. How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -

HI everyone,
Have a nice turkey leg in my SC today. Will add some chopped up carrot and possibly potatoes shortly. Mash the potatoes when they are done gives them a nice flavour when cooked with the meat. Will serve with yorkies and roasties and gravy tonight for DH and I. Nice way of being able to do a nice roast during the week.
Must make a mental note to next time buy a few legs and roast them all at the same time! Would make great casserols, curries and soups that way!!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -

Looks like I will have to use the main cooker tonight..

Ham shank (cooked overnight and then meat taken off the bone and fat discarded), soup and broth mix, diced carrot and swede, bit of left-over cabbage from last night, blanched cauli stalks, blanched leeks, potatoes, mixed herbs, 2 veg stock cubes, celery salt and some dumplings will go in about an hour before serving.
I've saved over half of the ham stock and some of the meat to make pea and ham soup tomorrow.
Not bad for a £1.29 ham shank.

I cooked a delicious lamb stew complete with dumplings last night.
Today, I will be preparing one SC with bolognaise and the other with chilli con carne. I plan to freeze some of this. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
