I agree with the above, plus if your SC has an auto setting, its worth using this as it will automatically cook food high for a while and then switch itself to low for the remainder.0 -
Double portion of Spag bol in mine - half tonight with spaghetti, and the other half to go in the fridge to make a lasgne with early next week. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Iam doing beef casserole, will I ticken with cornflour about half an hour from end? Am doing double amount and going to put second lot in fridge for sat or sunday. Thanks
Add the flour at the beginning. If browning meat first, coat in seasoned flour before doing so. If not, sprinkle some flour on top of the vegetables and meat, stir it in slightly, before adding liquids. It works for me.0 -
I cooked a large piece of brisket in mine yesterday. Took about 8/9 hrs on low. Tastes as beef should and the smell made me feel hungry all day. I will be making a pan full of gravy and slicing the meat up and freezing in family portion sizes - and of course we'll be having some for lunch today.0

Had to do a half recipe though as only have a 3.5l slow cooker and couldn't fit anything bigger than a 1lb loaf tin in.
Very nice cake it is too.... and really easy
Thanks madcook!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

thanks. First time cook yesterday. Beef casserole, and it was bloomin lovely. I put cornflour in about an hour from end. Made double quantities so going to have leftovers on sunday with yorkshire pudding. Next, iam going to try a joint of pork. Iam a bit of a disaster with roasts as they always end up too dry so really looking forward to that. Read through some posts and some really good tips so should be fine.
