11am this morning chucked a whole chicken in the SC, sprinkled some chicken stock granules in and about 1/2 pint boiling water. Cooked on high all day, took the chicken out at 4.45pm it just fell apart, not an ounce of waste. I used the liquid in the pot to make gravy, I put a small amount in a small saucepan, blended in some flour, added an oxo cube, added more liquid while heating gently on the hob, delicious....

There are differing opinions regarding this. Some people say it takes as much energy as using a lightbulb, other people say the same as an oven:

    Hi all,

I have a big lump of ham to cook in the slow cooker tomorrow - how best to cook it? If cooking with cola do I just leave it sitting in cola on low all day?

    Ideas would be gratefully received!

Someone like NIgella or jamie Oliver suggested it I think. There was a discussion about it earlier in the thread.

It was Nigella. Apparently it gives a sweet flavour but I have never tried it myself! I do hear it's yummy results.

    Hi

I've got a big pot of chilli on the go at the moment. Just a packet mix, tin of beans, tin of tomatoes, 1/3 of a bag of quorn, lentils, an onion and the sad looking tomatoes that were sat in the fridge. Just kept filling until full, stick the lid on and ignore. My sort of cooking. Yummy and no work involved.

Nice thing is cos theres only 2 of us at the moment that means tonights meal and 2 other nights meals put in the freezer ready for when I eventually get a job.

    Have a lovely day everyone
