  • I had small disaster, as I went to drain off the spaghetti I accidentally dropped the pan in the bowl of hot sopay water I'd just run for the dishes!! I quickly scooped it out and rinsed it with fresh water and it went down a treat, just wish I'd made more bolognaise as it was the best ever!!

  • Today I converted a "cook on the hob" receipe for Spanish Basque Chicken to cook in the slowcooker. Lovely, and didn't have to dash around getting the dinner ready as soon as I'd got my baby to sleep (did some ironing instead!).

Because nothing evaporated I've still go loads of sauce left, which I will add a bit of meat to and use as a pasta sauce later in the week. Yum!

I am planning on making bolognese in the slow cooker today but I was wondering is Quorn mince ok to use in it?? I'm following a green day on Slimming World so it has to be Quorn today.

  • Hi everyone, finally treated myself to a slow cooker yesterday :)

I then went to Aldi to find some brisket... but all I could get was a 800g beef joint (looks quite yummy!), my question is, should I put it in the oven as I normally would (am really desperate to try out my new gadget lol!), or would it be ok to use my SC, using the beef in gravy recipe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It will be fine in your slow cooker! I cooked a beef joint a couple of weeks ago, with beef stock and a big glug of red wine - it came out lovely! so tender it melted in your mouth!
  • Thanks Bellrooster, have got it all in the SC now, smelling lovely already lol! Just wondering, I normally 'overdo' my beef when cooking in the oven (I like it well done, but normally overdo it a bit too much), this probably sounds like a really daft question, but does the beef joint go nice and brown whilst cooking????? I cant bear red/pink raw or any other meat like that!
