Great thread, can I join too? Lots of inspiring ideas on here I like the sound of including homemade washing powder and having a homemade Christmas in 2013. Also want to cook some new things in 2013 and bake more, lose weight (might be a challenging balancing those two!).
I started crocheting again around a year ago and that's taken over a lot of my spare time, happy to offer any help to others if I can.
As I've missed most of week 1 I need an easy challenge this week so I will challenge myself to finishing a crochet blanket I have had on the go for some time, so time to get crocheting!Old style weight loss challenge, start date 14/7/13, starting wt: 14 st 12, goal 12lb in 11 weeks:

Late joiner....can I join in too please? Want to start making my own bread regularly. Have done it before, but not consistantly or particularly well, so hope that practice makes perfect!
Loads of other things I want to do too.....mainly crafty, but will try to pacemyself. My knitting has always been a failure as I try to substitute cheaper wools in patterns and then don't do a tension square. Have got some nice wool (the one recommended by the pattern) and am going to make sure my tension is right before I start this time. I want to end up with something wearable!
Can't find a local source of Stardrops at the moment, but as soon as I do I will switch to using it.
Inspirational thread! Thank you OP'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Hi All,
I would love to join this thread.
There are so many things I want to try to make and do this year so much so I am getting a bit addicted to Pintrest but not actually making any of it.
Here's my list of things I want to learn to do:
Crochet
Sew
Grow my own herbs (i live in a flat so I will get a window box)
Learn how to make bread
Perfect my cooking ability
Im sure there is many more things along the wayJust Looking For Advice. :-)0 -
Hi there, I don't post on here often as crochet has been my nemesis, however I began to conquer my fears in December & managed to make a load of snowflake garlands as gifts. This lead to a few days between Christmas new year with a hook some yarn & lots of Pinterest/YouTube. I finally managed to make a granny square & a hat for my baby (though that hat looks ridiculous) last night I also managed to crochet a flower to embellish it
(don't know how to post photos)
I'm going for a snoop on Pinterest for some more ideas now - hopefully I'll be posting a bit more often, probably with lots of questions as I still find patterns very hard to follow

Well thanks to this thread I have actually carried out my task this week and baked all my own bread. Was thinking about buying a bread Akers but dont think I'll bother as thus week has made me remember that I like baking bread by hand.
So next weeks challenge is to clear the backlog of washing, sort through the wardrobes and take bags to the charity shop. Hopefully I'll be back here next week saying I've done it!0 -
Well, tomorrow is the last day of my first weekly challenge, which was to finish my small, child sized gingerbread man cross stitch. And Ive still not finished it
got all the body done though, and I managed to miscount the rows and his head is one row too far up! Nevermind, will make his bow tie one row bigger :rotfl:
Will get it finished in the next week. HonestCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
So I have relined my planters with garbags and sewn them in.Very therapeutic sewing plastic!!!
Planted out the following - Clematis, tall purple flowered plant!!
Basil,oregano,carrots,red onions and peppers.
Waiting on lavender, parsnips and more carrots (to grow in bottles )
Sliced 6 YS beef sausages for cat food as no one liked them ;0(
Sorted through the card and gift tag stash and culled a bag full, leaving each card with an envelope and a folder of card fronts to craft with.
Have googled how to make dhukka and that will be next on my HM gifting list - moroccan style dip made from nuts, spices and seeds.
Boxed up all my crafting glass bottles for HM dhukka, diffusers and gel air fresheners away from my foodie jars so I can see at a glance that I can make a batch of any of the above.
Happy Sunday everyone

Hi sillyinthepast and all,
Hope you don't mind me joining this thread a bit late. My first challenge was to learn about a new sport to assist health goals. I watched about nine programmes. Will now think of what to do this oncoming week. Thanks.0
