Anyone fancy a challenge?

I have noticed a few people on here the last week or so saying what they want to do or try next year. How about a challenge where we try one new thing each week? It could be anything from darning socks, making jam to sewing a quilt. We could even help each other. I know that I wouldn't have a clue how to take trousers up so we could maybe each Sunday say what new thing we would like to try. We don't all have to do the same thing, that's the benefit of this forum we all have different skills. What do you think?

Think this is a brilliant idea. There are lots of OS things I want to have a go at but I keep putting it off till 'tomorrow'.

I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

  • I'd like to join in, at least with a few. Great idea!
  • I hope you don't mind if mine are small challenges. I'm quite new to money saving. So any advice along the way is very welcome

  • How about we start 30th December? It's a Sunday and we could share our 'challenges' what we want to try for the week. I know my first thing to try will be cleaning with vinegar and lemon and as the house needs cleaning before we move it fits perfectly. X

  • 30th sounds good to me. Now just got to think of a challenge. I'll get back to you on that.

Funny you should mention that, I keep reading about cleaning with Stardrops instead of buying diff cleaning materials for diff jobs. I've even looked at it in Wilkos but not bought it.

That will be my first 2013 challenge.

Next might be..................making a pair of simple bedroom curtains. I bought the fabric 5 years ago and it's been in the cupboard ever since  Mum's given me her old sewing machine. Existing curtains are a disgrace - faded, hems coming loose, hooks missing etc. Even basic curtains are relatively expensive to buy.

I'm up for it! A new challenge every week! Sounds good, and we will probably be able to help each other complete them too! Great idea.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

I'm moving house on 30th - but I'd like to join in.

I'm needing to alter some curtains etc to make the the current ones fit the windows in my new home.

I also want to 'get to grips' with working out a spreadsheet of some kind to keep a track of my spending habits. Some serious efforts need to be made in this department - my cash is escaping from my purse far too quickly !

I'll make a start as soon as my Internet connection is reliable - it should be connected/up&running shortly as it's 'been ordered'.

Sounds good to me, I have lots of projects I would like to do and learn, although I suspect it will result me in having even more things not finished!!
I would like to learn to clean windows with newspaper and vinegar
Learn now to patch clothes, alter clothes or even make clothes.
Make lots of presents for birthdays and Christmas
I want to try my hand at making blinds, maybe even the canadian quilts.
    Can I join in please?
    Thanks
