My challenge for this week is to decorate (on a shoestring) both my sons bedrooms and to trundle back and forwards to the skip until the house is free of rubbish!!!
Ok, so I started yesterday and have decorated my youngests room. Today we get some official respite from my other son, so I will get in there and do his room. I will kick OH into the car and he can become friends with the skip men. I'm down there so often that I am almost on first name terms with the guys!!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Hi everyone, I'd love to join in please.
I want to learn to bake - been promising myself for years but dieting always gets in the way! I'd already planned to bake something new each week and this thread might just motivate me.
So this week I'm going to make a cake. Not sure exactly what but I recently added Marian Keyes excellent 'Saved By Cake' to my army of baking books and I'll probably start with something easy from that.0 -
My first challenge of 2013 is to try one of the many recipes I added on Pinterest, tonight's dinner is going to be an Italian minestrone pasta soup. I'm trying to avoid going to the supermarket until Thursday and follow the meal plan I wrote yesterday as we have to reduce our grocery costs in 2013. The rest of the challenges for January are going to be; learning about cataloguing historic items (I volunteer at a museum), trying my hand at ice scuplting (free festival at Canary Wharf 11-13th Jan), go to the farmers market and buy myself some fruit/veg I've never tried before, and making a wool pom pom! Quite a random selection of things to try
I was going to try and take photos of the results and post them here to keep me on track, or else I'll get totally sidetracked and fall back into a rut
