Thank you0 -
Please can I join in?!?! Such a great idea and lovely to read through what everyone wants to do. My challenge for this week will be to use the microwave to make a pudding or cake in.....very simple challenge to start but am poorly with this horrid fluey virus that is going about at the mo so thought I would be gentle with myself!. Dont really use the microwave apart from hubby heating up his dinner as I work in the evening and leave it cooked for him but discovered some microwave baking 'tins' in the cupboard the other day that havent even been opened so my challenge will be to use them.
Will report back before sunday!0 -
So thoroughly inspired by this thread and also on holibobs today I have -
Made HM laundry powder from soap, soda crystals and essential oils.Dissolved it in hot,hot water before addingit to load.Came out well. Zero cost.
Ordered seeds online and picked up potting mix and garbags to line my planters for herbs. I even ventured into next doors chicken coop and gathered a bucket load of chicken fertiliser and sprinkled it onto the veggie patch after I weeded it.
One other HM gift I will making this year is reed diffusers- easy, cheap ,look great alone or in a hamper so I have raided my cupboards and found 5 suitable containers ,just need to source the reeds.
DS1 and I made a HM meat supreme heavy on the chilis for OH dinner with some pizza flour and yeast I found in my cyclone shelter.Went down a storm and I had all ingredients in fridge - salami, ham, bacon, cheese, red pepper, bolognese sauce and HM roasted pepper pasta sauce.
DS1 made himself a small pepperoni pizza so everyone was happy.
Happy Thursday everyone.

Ok my new challenge is to make a Maltloaf in the bm not attempted it before. With it being a small challenge I have decided to make a lemon cheesecake for sunday. I really not good at baking so if it turns out good I will be very pleased with myself.
I shall keep you updated.I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0 -
winniepooh wrote: »Ok ladies. I steamed the syrup sponge for nearly two hours. Took the grease proof and it still hadn't cooked. Now normally this would end up in the bin but I thought I'd stick itin the oven while we had dinner and half an hour later it was cooked thru. So not exactly steamed. It tasted ok but it's not a recipe I would use again.
So my challenge for this week is up. Its not been a great start but I'm going to keep going.
How are you all doing with your challenges?
do you have a microwave? I've made the best & quickest sponge puddings using mine - PM me if you want a recipe0 -
ok just finished reading this thread - what a great idea
I have a folder that I started last year so I can try & be more organised so I will be trying to keep that going & improve where I can - so far it contains a list of birthdays/special occasions, a list of people ot buy for for Christmas 2013 & notes of ideas, I have a section for upcoming events where I put letters from school etc, I also have budget & meal planning sections (which need lots more attention lol)
so my goals/challenges so far are;
keep learning to knit & knit a dress for my 9m old & tank top for my nearly 4yr old
keep learning to crochet - so far I can do snoflakes & granny squares, I'm trying hard to read patterns but it's all a bit foreign still
learn to play the piano
learn to sew
reduce grocery spending & food waste (hoping those two go hand in hand)

star drops is an all purpose cleaner. You can use it in the kitchen, for mopping, the bathroom, washing up etc. Even in your washing machine! you can get it in supermarkets, wilkos, pound land, places like that
