Tesco Clubcard fraud - online vouchers stolen
Comments

Morning
It would seem that we are having variable experiences with Tesco Customer services following this scam. I reported my fraud of over £100 in early October and was informed that upon investigation (which they said they could see the vouchers had been used instore without a valid clubcard so they anticipated no problem) I would have them refunded onto my November statement. My statement arrived this morning & they have not been refunded. Fuming!
I have phoned Customer Services who apologised and advised that they will be on my February 2014 statement. I stated how unhappy i was since we use the vouchers to double up boost for toys and other presents at Christmas & that we had now lost the opportunity to do this due to their error. We are a hard working family on a low income and to have £200 (boost) removed has hit us hard.
After the CS advisor spoke to a manager I was advised that I could have the vouchers put on a Tesco Money Card now & posted out to me. I asked if I could then boost theses he siad yes I asked him to check, the manager confirmed that I could only spend the originalk value of the vouchers put onto the money card and no boost. THANKS Tesco!0 -
I am not taking this offer.0

Feel for you
I've been following this thread since we discovered our own loss which was relatively small compared to the amounts many people have had stolen.
What shocks me is that there seems to be little or no media attention on this yet it must have affected thousands of customers. Whilst media spotlight is away from this issue, Tesco will continue to fob customers off and deny any problem, which is obviously exactly what is happening.
We're out on Tesco and their clubcard scheme after this. It's not just the lack of security which has led to this happening, which is bad enough. It's also the diabolical way in which customers are handled when they alert Tesco and ask for it to be dealt with. Too many people are really getting a rough deal at a time when they really rely on the boost vouchers.
Shame on you Tesco, I hope you get the media attention you deserve very soon.0 -

And another victim here...not very much lost and I wondered at the start if I'd had a senior moment and spent them without remembering! When I found they'd been used on iTunes I knew it wasn't me (I'm clinging to purchasing old fashioned CDs!).
Also there was someone else's email address in the box used to sign in to Tesco Clubcard. I copied this and let Customer Services know and they could obviously see the same information. Not a very smart scammer who uses their name in an email and buys things on iTunes! Hopefully Tesco Fraud department will track them down. Tesco promised to refund the lost amount with my February statement.
Then I searched online and was astounded at the amount of people affected. I'll be spending my vouchers as soon as I get them in future - I've no confidence in Tesco's websites now. :-(0 -

Thanks for that, but I couldn't see anything recent there. Two articles from February, one undated, one from June, it didn't really make me feel that the media were on the ball at all0 -

Well it's not new news is it?
This thread started last December.
Anyway, I only quoted four examples. There are more media reports out there... maybe more recent, but I'll leave you to look for them.
I didn't even look at the dates.0 -
This happened to us in September too, someone had gotten in and changed the email address and cashed in £54 of vouchers using clubcard boost. I contacted the helpline who were generally very nice and said they would look into it. They got back to me saying they had been used for Thorpe Park tickets and was I certain it wasn't me. Well I live up north and I'd rather go to Alton Towers as it's only an hour away. I suggested that if they looked into where the Thorpe Park tickets had been mailed to then it may give a clue as to who had stolen the points. They agreed to put them back on but that they wouldn't show until November's statement.
So the statement came this week and there's no sign of the missing points. I rang Tesco again who told me they could see a note on my account and that they are to be returned. The advisor told me not to worry as he could do it straight away and they'd be showing inclined with 48 hours.
So far I have to say Tesco have been very good and easy to talk to about this. I think sometimes it comes down to remaining calm and rational when talking to the call handler, it's not their fault after allClaimed: RBS Charges £1949.92 + £673.63 interest, Total £2623.55. A&L PPI £461.69 + £115.50, Total £577.19

It's news that's been allowed to die down.
This thread started last December. The fraudulent activity was supposed to have been dealt with as you read through the thread. This is a new wave. Pointless starting a new thread.
I don't really want to look for news on this; it hardly helps anyone.*
Neither does trying to start a citag war, so please don't use a forum that's supposed to be for people to help and unite in order to start a war. I am sorry if somehow my comment that there was little media attention offended you.
* I have better things to do with my time than scour the internet for the same information written a different way by a few journo's for a few daily newspapers to fill a few lines up, as this is all those four outdated articles you posted seemed to be. And google does tend to bring up the most recent news first so you probably would have done my 'work' for me anyway. Thanks

And today I received an mail-out email from 'Jeanie - Mad About Bargains' which pretty much highlights how little attention is drawn to this problem until you yourself find your vouchers are missing...

I have had a lot of feedback from people who have had the same experience as me with their clubcard vouchers being fraudulently used. One had as much as £550 taken but did eventually get it all refunded. It looks like it has been going on for some time but Tesco have been very quiet about it."
