Tesco Clubcard fraud - online vouchers stolen

  • Yes my vouchers were spent too and not by me. I was abroad when they were used in Nottingham in September. My whole year's vouchers saved up ready for Xmas. Not a lot but sill around £80. I too had problems accessing my tesco account, which they sorted out but never mentioned it could be linked to voucher fraud. Now someone has my date of birth, address and most of what they need for identity fraud as well as my vouchers. I will be cancelling my tesco credit card, not renewing my insurance and not shopping with tesco any more. I don't feel that i can trust them to tell the truth. Why no e-mail asking us to check our statements before now? It is just damage limitation for tesco no help to us customers at all.
  • I discovered yesterday that my vouchers had been used last week in a Walsall Extra store which is over 200 miles away from where I live! I have had an email reply from Tesco implying it is my fault that my account has been hacked into. I have emailed them again wanting to know when my vouchers will be refunded, wish me luck, i think I am going to need it.
  • So checked my account to update address and have discovered to my horror that almost £200 of vouchers have been redeemed around the country, primarily Cambridge (I'm in the NW). All in the space of 7 days.

Reported it to Tesco and they flagged them now as fraudulent but said I would only get them back in Feb next year. I was planning to use on items for a home renovation as money is tight now but thats goosed now.

The first lad I spoke to was great but I was then passed onto another guy and he didn't sound at all interested. He told me not to change the PW, or the fraudulent email as they will use it to track the bad person.

    Is that right?

I could really do with them back sooner - would emailing the CEO get it sorted faster?

Glad I logged in to update it or I wouldn't have known about it at all!

Sorry to say we've just joined the ever growing list of losers. My wife has saved them for a couple of years and now things are tight we thought we'd use them for Christmas only to find £300 spent in Liverpool. 200 miles away. Can't see how there can't be a leak at Tesco, too many showing up to be lucky hackers.
:EasterBun Everyone seems normal until you get to know them
  • I went through the FB message system and I have been told that they have credited the points back on so I'll get them back at the next issuing which is crap as I wanted to spend my points before Christmas.

They also said they were not refunding some because they had used a clubcard registered to my name at my address to redeem them - how the hell would they get that other than intercepting mail? Could you print clubcards off too in the past?

I'm struggling to even get the sites to update with my personal information, it's a horrible site to navigate.

Don't put up with that, you are entitled to all your points back. I had that battle and won, went through ceo email which was the only way to get anything sorted.
Pm me if you need any more info.

That's complete BS, don't accept that. Until 2 weeks ago the person who hacked your account could print off a temporary clubcard, without the need to even report the original missing, don't let them tell you otherwise.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear
  • I discovered today that £79.50 out of the £122.50 worth of vouchers I had stored in my account had been spent. I live in West Wales and all the vouchers had been used at locations in the London area between May and July of this year. I never left Wales during this period. The last time I exchanged vouchers from my account was in January and I don't think I have checked it since then. I've changed my password as a precaution. What's the best way of going about claiming the points back please?
