  • Snow day... no packed lunch but a fridge raid... probably one continuous fridge raid as I'm a grazer!

  • Stuck at home in the snow so home lunch for me today. 5/5 for this week. :j

This thread really concentrates the mind on not just nipping into the shop to get an easy sandwich and of course saves more pennies towards the mortgage :D

struggled this week as have been so busy but thanks to overly generous portions of evening meals resulting in leftovers I've successfully survived week 2 without spending a penny in the school canteen

  • Morning... hope everyone stayed safe in the snow. Back for another week of packed lunches!

The snow forced our weekend away to be postponed so I took the opportunity to prepare some packed lunch items: a batch of carrot and coriander soup (made with HM chicken stock), a big chicken, spinach and tomato pasta bake and yummy HM chocolate fruit and nut slices.

In my pack up today I have: carrot and coriander soup, chocolate fruit and nut slice, yoghurt, satsuma, pear and packet of sunbites.

  • Today I have:

Ham sandwich on seeded bread, natural yoghurt, banana and small piece of christmas cake.

Despite the snow, got to work on time and had my porridge for breakfast.

Bahhhhh... Slept in this morning so had to buy a roll at work for lunch. I had fruit, crisps, yog and stuff to put on a roll but no actual bread / roll! 50p spent and packed lunch tally for 2013 now = 11/13 days. :o

Note to self take some portion sized small packets of savory biscuits (oatcakes?) to work for days I forget bread. I usually have enough of everything else at work! :p
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

  • Hi Guys,

I have read most of the thread, and am really interested! I started this challenge on October 1st 2012 with the aim of reducing calories, and therefore not buying 'stuff' I didn't know the calories of. The consequence however has been a purse that still has money in at the end of the week
I make lots of homemade soup, but sometimes soup just doesn't do it; I have rediscovered beans/spaghetti on toast, and a current favourite is warburtons thins toasted and spread with philadelphia (or some such) currently they are £1 for a pack of 6 in Iceland, so great value too! I also- buy a large pot of yoghurt and decant into smaller pots to take to work- apple much more filling when chopped into it.
