Well done OL
Unfortunately I am going to have to leave the challenge, (well I suppose complete it)as I have had to sell my share in the flat due to personal circumstances.
Not the greatest time to sell I know.....but was cushioned by having been so frugal will still come away with something.
Thanks again to everyone and good luck to all.

Just to let you know that I'm now 'Technically' MF.
My Offset is now comfortably in excess of my Mortgage - I was going to pay it off but I may look to draw back against it to build an extension on my house. The rate is only 1.35% - so its cheaper than taking out a new loan.
I have also just secured a full contract of employment after 9 months of being on notice of redundancy.
So all in all a good day.
Thanks for all your support - it has kept me going.
Good luck to all of you - you CAN do it.
Good news all round then! :beer:Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Well done to all
Am I right in thinking next update is 01st July?
Now that the wedding is over we have been able to start over paying again!
We upped our DD back to the amount it was before interest rates dropped and so we automatically overpay by £86.90 per month anyway. A calculator online tells us that this alone would mean we could have the mortgage paid off 9 years quicker!! So we would be 51 instead of 60!!
We overpaid by £89.35 a few days ago (cashback from Rpoints and payments from Mystery Shops and also survey sites!)
I know it's not much, but every little helps...right?Dream of being mortgage free....

Scheduled Maturity Date

At this stage the outstanding balance quoted is only an indication of the total balance on the mortgage account and the mortgage current account.

If you wish to change the payment amount to align it to your maturity date, please telephone our customer Service Department. If the payment amount is not amended then this account will redeem once final payment is made.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for your long and hopefully continuing association with us
Yours sincerely

Don't you think that is badly written? I assume I don't have to do anything just make sure I call them before the final payment is due.
Happy to see the maturity date of 16/02/2020 when it is likely to be 16/12/09. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Save £12k in 25 No 49

EVERYTHING I've received from Barclays/Woolwich is badly written, and a series of broken promises. I'm now preparing the form for the Ombudsman as Barclays have resoundingly failed to deal with the mortgage account properly. since it was first opened. And now I'll be financially out of pocket.
As and when we move, we'll me taking out a new mortgage with a different lender, not porting the amazing (+0.18%) tracker rate. I will NEVER deal with Barclays again.
Rant over, good luck with the overpaying, everyone! So much better in the sunshine.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -

Dawnylou well done! It all helps.
Tallgirl, I can't understand that letter! I pride myself on being one of the most boring people in the world that actually reads small print too!
I got paid today whoohoo! It wasn't much though as I haven't had much work but I got some tax back and holiday pay and I keep getting money dribbling in from another agency I have been working for which keeps things going a bit. I am updating my sig as I have paid off another 500 quid but I won't send TG a PM until the end of the month as I have a bit more money to come in, my A&L account matures on 1st July so I should get 156 quid interest for that.
I found a tenner on the street yesterday! I was cycling to asda (I nearly didn't go either as aldi is nearer but I had seen some bargains on the other board I wanted to bag) You should have smelled the burning rubber and heard the screech as I did an emergency stop for it!!!! I thought 'yup, I'll have that' No-one was looking around for money so finders keepers. Boy am I glad of that tenner this month.
I also got my co-op divi through yesterday which said I had earned some points for opening a bank account with them. I had to laugh because I only opened the account to get the 100 quid if you put regular amounts in for 3 months. So, I got 100 quid and also something like 15 quid because it said in their T&Cs they would give you that if there was a problem opening the account (which there was) so Britain fights back on the banking front...nice to hear about joe public ripping off the banks instead of them ripping us off!
So all in all what could have been a disaster of a month has actually been ok, thank goodness for my little veg patch which has kept us going with salads and radishes and for excellent DH budgetting skills!!!
