Mortgage Free in Three Yrs

One week till the end of the month - still time to sneak in a little overpayment - let's face it, it's harder to do in a holiday month, so do it now so the money doesn't get frittered away during the holidays.:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -
Time to update my sig again as the payments have cleared for this month and I've made my council tax overpayment too.
I got all excited when I updated my snowball because it showed that we'd be clear by 22/04/2013. Then I remembered that this months interest has not hit yetso it puts us back to 22/05/2013
.
We've had a big clearout from our wardrobes and I listed the best stuff on ebay. The rest went to the charity shop. My items will be finishing on Saturday and Sunday and I have a couple more things to list today. At the moment I have bids to the total of £17.98 and will make a small profit on P&P too :j. This money will go on the mortgage when I receive it.
I'm off to a wedding at the end of next week and (this is a bit naughty) I am giving them a present that I received for Christmas. It's an electric carving knife, hand blender and something else (whisk?) in a set. I already have all of these so it's no use to me but they don't and when they have babies it'll come in handy!
I need to root out my old diary so I can log into our alliance and leicester accounts and see how much is in there and I need to phone up and see how much is in our ISAs as I never did receive my year end statement.

Nice to see some people posting, it tends to go quiet on this thread until the updates and then there is a flurry of activity!
Kaz, I don't blame you for recycling presents...I do it all the time! Every little bit helps too.

Hi All
Just to let you know that I'm now 'Technically' MF.
My Offset is now comfortably in excess of my Mortgage - I was going to pay it off but I may look to draw back against it to build an extension on my house. The rate is only 1.35% - so its cheaper than taking out a new loan.
I have also just secured a full contract of employment after 9 months of being on notice of redundancy.
So all in all a good day.
Thanks for all your support - it has kept me going.
Good luck to all of you - you CAN do it.I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

Thanks DH:beer:
Its more of a relief - having had redundancy and been close to death in the last couple of years has tempered the feeling of celebration somewhat this time around - I'm 'only' 44 but have been fortunate enough to be MF twice before.
It has taken lots of commitment and sacrifice (short term pain for long term gain), but it IS SO WORTH IT. The feeling of Security in the current climate is good, but I'm not complacent. I would love to see all of you achieve your goals.

Overlandlandy, I didn't realise you had been ill, sorry to hear about that. At least you have one less thing to worry about being mortgage free and I bet it takes some of the pressure off.
I am with you on the commitment and sacrifice! The mortgage free road is not and easy one but I can see the end in sight now and I am going for it!
I'm so pleased you have reached the finishing line, are you doing anything special to celebrate?Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
