Thank you to all who recommended the Sainsburys Basics Tea Bags. I picked a box up last week and can't fault it! Even tested my OH buy making his with them and not telling him and he was none the wiser. We already use Aldi Red Label but converted!
Def going to have to try to get some of these .... Mr S is a fair distance away but will start a list for when I'm in the area!;)Now, if only there was a decent substitute for Kenco Millicano Coffee. Love "fresh" coffee, hate instant but this is lovely.
Ohhhhh I love it too:o but I refuse to pay the extortionate amount they want for it - especially as I like my coffee weak compared to most people and even I need more than 1 teaspoon for a cup!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Lidl's milk chocolate is really nice and often only 39p, I also grab the Ritter Sport chocolate if they have it on offer (the cornflake one is lush!)
Sainsbury's chopped tomatoes with garlic and olive oil are usually around 70p but they make a lovely instant pasta sauce - much better tasting than other cheap pasta sauces.
Sainsburys sardines in olive oil (49p) probably the nicest canned sardines I've ever had - better than cheap tuna. Waitrose basics sardines in olive oil are nice too, but a bit more expensive.
Waitrose rooibos and vanilla teabags (99p) are lovely, and their basics crackers for cheese are also really nice, especially the poppy seed ones.2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
I'm a big fan of Sainsbury's basics cleaning stuff - especially their cloths, pan scrubs and brillo pads. I think these are all under 50p and they're great value, they do what they should for a good price! The cloths are big enough to cut in half, which is great for me as I only use them for 'non-reusable cloth' cleaning, like the loo. I also like their basics disinfectant. Not the best smell, but absolutely fine for sloshing in bins etc.0

Mars and milkyway drinks in Heron frozen foods are only 3 for a pound which works out at 33p each
they used to be 5 for a pound but still I can't moan. I get 5.00 worth each week because they don't last long in my house.
I love doing my frozen shop at heron it doesn't half cut my food bills. I get my tea bags, san marco pizzas for my oldest son, packed lunch bits and bobs, yogurts, drinks, frozen meals, cat food. I absolutely love their strawberry custard creams for 27p too!Make extra money January 2013: £4.40 / £30

I love nice coffee, I tried Azera (i think its nescafe) and in the supermarket its 99p for 5 sachets in Home Bargains its 59p but recently they had it for 2 for £1. For an instant its more like a fresh coffee and really nice.
Dove soap (small one). I have sensitive skin and this I have used on my face, body (you can use it as a shaving foam as well) and my hair (when I ran out of shampoo). I've bought it in most shops for about 49p but now and again see it in semi-chem for 39p.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I have just read through this entire thread and I can see that I can make a lot of savings on my groceries. :money: :j
Asda SmartPrice sliced beetroot (340g) 39p and tastes as nice as the more expensive beetroot imho.0 -
I'm loving this thread and picking up some good ideas, but... I find it really frustrating that as I'm following a weight loss group and have been successfully for a year now I can't buy a lot of own brand/value/basics food as its always full fat! I've noticed recently the cost of my shopping going up and would love to be able to switch to value, why will they not do the low fat alternatives to fight against the brands?!! :mad:0

I prefer Necafe Azera to Kenco Millicano, but hubby is the other way round, that said I have only bought them recently as they have been half price in various supermarkets (and because Kenco emailed me a 75p off voucher)!
Just over 50p at 59p (or might be 69p if my memory is wrong) Lidl's version of Ryvita are actually nicer than the real thing!
Ages ago I tried Adsa's version and hated them, didn't taste the same and too crunchy, tried Aldi's this month but didn't like them - not crisp enough.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

I find the fact that so many low fat and/or cheap versions of stuff are packed with tonnes of sugar instead is even worse for me.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
