Changes to Reward and Ultimate Reward Accounts

I'm failing to see how they will be able to enforce this.
I seriously doubt whether their automated systems are clever enough to differentiate between a BACS credit and a FP credit and also between a "utility" and "non utility" dd0 -
They probably wouldn't enforce it automatically, but do it via a single, manual check for new accounts like they do when you apply for the £100 offer.
So come June, someone is employed to check each account has suitable DDs and if not, downgrade the account. At a saving of £75 per account, its a worthwhile process.0 -

Well, Santander's systems manage it. They can even distinguish between water and other utilities. So it shouldn't be beyond the wits of the Halifax programmers. However, I have not seen anything that stipulates the Halifax DDs must be for utilities.0 -
Santander most likely have a database of the DD originator code and the cashback percentage for that originator code (like how they do it on there CC). Halifax could do likewise, but I don't think they would (certainly it doesn't say anything like that in the T&Cs) - it'll be most likely just "2 DDs".
I don't know if banks can request a list of DD originator codes - I would expect them to be able to, but even if not, it wouldn't take a long to setup the codes for the various companies they give cashback for.0 -
Considering many of you faff about moving £1000 here and there every month for £5, how much hassle is it to have two of your direct debits set up on the same account?
You do know that the bank will even do it for you too :j0 -
You are right, it's not much hassle, and certainly well worth my 10 minutes.
But nobody in their right mind would ask a bank to set up these particular DDs for them.0 -
All the "faffers" will know.
And may be those who had a bank involved in setting up/transferring a DD will also know, lol.0 -
Mehhh how annoying is this. I use this account for my current account and over the last few months have paid off all my debts bar the credit card and don't have any direct debits setup on my account.
So my account will get downgraded because I don't deal with any direct debits any more. LAME !!!0 -
Check out the easy DD list mentioned in the thread.0
