Now I'm thinking of various ways of setting up these direct debits to keep that cash rolling in
Thing is, a lot of people can't be bothered.
I get laughed at for the lengths i go to to get that extra % interest or that extra £5 per month. ATEOTD, i'm the one picking up 1-2 months worth of extra pay each year. It covers Xmas presents, fuel bills, car repair, whatever - it's money i wouldn't have had & it's essentially FREE, aside from putting in a bit of leg work.
We've all been given ample warning of the change that is coming, so how difficult is it to open a few online accounts, set up £1 transfers & continue to pick up that £60/£120 per year (or £90 if you share)? Not difficult at all is my response. Someone offers me £90 i wont say no.
But to some it's too much hassle. You telling me that they wont have 15-30 minutes spare in a day to set all this up between now & then? I don't believe it. Well worth it IMO.0 -
When I opened my Nationwide mySave account, they gave me the option of transferring the 1K via Direct Debit or Cheque.0

Will wait for my log in details from Nationwide and see if I can do the same without cheques, if not I will try another account that doesn't need an opening cheque.
I just opened the Nationwide Mysave, the initial email says you have the option to deposit the money into your account through a bank transfer (or to set up the DD to make the deposit - this was on the initial application though). It says the Mysave account has to be funded within 45 days of application.0 -
Just opened my Tesco Internet Saver account with the monthly direct debit starting from February. I think I'll move my tv licence direct debit over to Halifax as this one doesn't earn cash back from my Santander 123 account.
A few minutes of my time in order to retain my £5 monthly reward! :j0 -
Yeah I've set up a monthly standing order from Santander to Halifax.0

My existing account is Investdirect, I was told I can set up a DD on it but will still need to wait for my log in details as I did not have internet banking set up, if they request a cheque I may just open another account some where else and save going into Halifax to request a cheque book.

I'm really glad I spotted this thread whilst having a quick browse yesterday. Are Halifax going to write to us about this?
I have opened a Post Office online saver and set up a £1 Direct Debit - took me less than 10 minutes. Easy peasy.
Once I get the £100 from the Co-op in March(ish), I will move my Direct Debit for my Santander savings account to Halifax. Job done.0 -

Hi
Me too. Plus I've set up a DD for my broadband payments via a £20.00 standing order from another account.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
Going to set up 2 x £1 charity DDs on each account - it's free money, might as well give something back.
Here's some I've found so far that will take £1 direct debits:
