After exactly eight weeks, I received a letter from the Abbey saying that their charges were just and fair, blah, blah, blah, And I would not be getting a rebate of any kind. Already been in contact with the FO and awaiting forum, any experienced this before, and how long does this process generally take?:money:0

Hi All
Well I'm using the FO for my complaint for HSBC, hopefully I'll be satisfied! Couldn't face court.
The Bank messed me aroung big time, asked for £9922 back without interest, waited the 8 wks (nearly 9 to be exact  ) I was told when phoning on 4 separate occasions that an offer letter was on its way to me, only to receive the !!!!!! off letter! So, sent my complaint form off to FO last wk, this time asking for interest, now £12k+ !! Soto HSBC now! & I want that as they have piled on even more charges since complaining!! I have opened a new bank account now and have left HSBC in overdraft.
I hope everyone lets us know their successes with the FO to give us all hope :j Hopefully, I might get my money before Xmas!!
Good luck to you all

Im going through the F O to reclaim my charges, recieved a letter back from them saying that they have wrote to nationwide giving them 28 days to settle in full or disclose all of their costs to the F O regarding charges etc so that the F O can conduct a full investigation.
The F O also say on the letter that as yet they have not had to have an investigation as all banks have offered to settle within this timeframeLast Cigarette 24/6/090 -
I have given Alliance & Leciester ample opportunity to pay up using the template letters, it seems to me they are the worse bank in giving back charges [Am I right?] I am now at the stage where I need to legally take it further. I am claiming £4982 + interest and they have recently offered £1636. I have till 16th July to accept, which I am not going to. What is the best option to take - FOS or Court? I havent filled in the MCOL form yet, but just from reading some of the forum threads it frightens the S*** out of me!
Also, From what I can gather: Lloyds TSB, HSBC and Halifax seem to be the best in paying out and unfortunately for me Alliance & Leicester seem to be the worst!

If you don't think that you could successfully handle a court claim, or can't afford the court fees and aren't eligible for fee relief, then the Financial Ombudsman is an alternative. It is free of charge and handles everything for you. They charge the bank involved £400 for each complaint they accept. However, they cannot award interest like a court. Their success rate is good but, if the Financial Ombudsman is unsuccessful or the settlement is unacceptable, you can still start court proceedings. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Hi. .
Firslty congratulations on everyone who has managed to claim back charges owed back to them.
I seem to be one off few who has actually received nothing.
I am currently claiming back £950+ from the RBS and £100 from Capital One.
Both have stuck to their guns and after sending the threatening to goto court letters, I received similar responses that states that they would not refund anything and that was their final decision regarding the matter.
Now I am in Scotland and from what I have read it is not as straight forward to take them to court as it would be in England. (eg using the online court form)
In my last response from both parties they stated that I could write to the Financial Ombudsman (FOS) which I have now done.
Has anyone else been in the same situation as myself and have you had satisfaction by going down this non court route?
I would rather goto court and get quicker satisfaction. Any info as to how I can do this being a resident in scotland.
It seems the banks and now taking a toucher approach to this ever popular process. I don't want to miss the boat and loose out on £1000+ which was hard earned cash of mines afterall.
Any help or advice appreciated :j

The only differences are that the small claims limit is just £750 (which scuppers the RBS claim) and the limitations time period is 5 years.
If the Financial Ombudsman is unsuccessful or the settlement is unacceptable, you can still start court proceedings.<O:p</O:pThe acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
