€19.11 to add to total today for multiple bits and pieces.
Ended up buying T&L golden syrup and Mr T own brand oats for making flapjacks as the value versions were more expensive - saved a third on the syrup by going for the branded one! Seems crazy, no?
Baked spud, beans and cheese for dinner tonight. It's freezing cold out and am really looking forward to it0 -

Decided not to buy two loaves of plastic bread from Icy and bake some myself instead. The only problem is we'll just eat it all up quickly...will see if I can get some sliced and frozen before we devour it!!Need to find a good wholemeal roll recipe to make some rolls for school lunches this week too!

Afternoon! Just a teeny spend of £1.99 to report today - would have got the full weekly shop but traffic in town was horrendous due to the snow. I normally go shopping before work to give me a time limit to work to but had none to spare so just got the barest of essentials to get us through today and will try again tomorrow.
Tea tonight is the last of the roast lamb heated up in some minty gravy, and dolloped in a fresh, hot baguette - guess who can't wait until tea time?
Off to update my sig now. Mmm, home made mango chutney with slices of gammon - bliss!
KB xx

Got my planned NSDs yesterday & today! :j
Have had to hide a portion of my granola so that I manage to get some!! Kids & DH Have cereal most days whereas I like to vary my breakfasts (to keep the weight down). On our meal plan, I also plan the breakfasts. Everyone is welcome to join me on the variations but 5/7 days nobody does! I only bought the granola Friday, today it's all gone! I'm not planning on having the granola until later in the week. Thankfully I clocked the gannets (spelling?) this morning & have hidden a sandwich bag for me in another cupboard! They are all cereal eating monsters! :rotfl: I had poached eggs on toast for my breakfast.
Kids had school dinners & so I'm making them there own little ploughmans for tea! DH & I had chicken salad for lunch & have got spicy pork with cous cous, green beans & courgettes for dinner. :drool:2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

I read a few and thought they didn't sound right.
I used 5 huge mangos and a 1lb of sugar to which I added a big glug of white wine vinegar, ground ginger, garlic, salt, cayenne pepper, crushed coriander seeds and ground cumin.
I let it simmer away until it went to the right consistency.
That is basically it.
Dead easy. Dead gorgeous!!
All the recipes were using massive quantities of liquid but it wasn't right to me as the mangoes released a massive amount of their own juices when simmering with the sugar.
I only used the spices I liked and had in too.
Delia does a lovely mango chutney, but she simmers it for 3 hours. I've made it in 1 1/2 hours and added sliced red chillies and it's gorgious
