That chutney looks fab, jumblejack! How long does it keep once you make a batch? Would love to have a go!
Should last a good year if you put in sterile jars and then in a water bath (basically cover the filled jars with boiling water in a deep pan and simmer for 10/15 mins)
Gonna do this when I've washed up my stock pan in a minute.
When the jars are cool, I will label and photograph em. Made nearly 5 jars worth would have been 5 jars if we hadn't eaten so much with the ham. Kept going back for thirds and fourths, it was so good!!!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Afternoon! J:
Just adding this week's shopping to my total. As*a delivery yesterday was £46.22 (incl £5 delivery charge) and L*dl today was £12.26 making a total of £58.48.
Not entirely sure I will need a GC delivery next week as I have soo much in my fridge, freezer and cupboards! Actually can't believe how much cheaper L*dl is than the bigger supermarkets for some of their things, I bought 3 packs of extra lean mince for £1.49 each, which makes it £1.02 cheaper than As*a and T*sco for their 500g packs. :T Also got enough bread flour to last a while now :rotfl:
I get paid on Friday so this is the end of my month, my total GC spend has been £171.04. This doesn't account for all of my month since last pay day as I started the challenge after I was paid and don't know what I'd spent in my first weekbut its a good starting point and I have discovered using L*dl and Asda rather than just sticking with T*sco

I didn't use one
I read a few and thought they didn't sound right.
I used 5 huge mangos and a 1lb of sugar to which I added a big glug of white wine vinegar, ground ginger, garlic, salt, cayenne pepper, crushed coriander seeds and ground cumin.
I let it simmer away until it went to the right consistency.
That is basically it.
Dead easy. Dead gorgeous!!
All the recipes were using massive quantities of liquid but it wasn't right to me as the mangoes released a massive amount of their own juices when simmering with the sugar.
I only used the spices I liked and had in too.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Looooooove mango chutney!!!
Silly mistake today. Needed bread, milk and ham so popped to the local Mr T express and it cost me £4.80!
Not a happy lady as know if I'd got this as part of my weekly shop it would have cost half! Ugh0 -
This weeks shop somehow managed to be £33.73. Could be down to me being back at work so bought a few bits for lunches. Am now just a cashier at work as couldnt get the flexi hours as a manager that i wanted. Happy cause it means less responsibilty. And the money i lose through the job i will be able to get via tax credits. In my opinion If i dont get the money from the government im entitled to, someone else will.January Grocery Challenge£84.49/£200:DMummy to Jack 16/07/2012:D20p Savers club Member #1120
