Pity you can't get a 'don't bother putting ticket on' sticker!

I suppose they might see that as some sort of challenge?
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.

There is an elderly lady across the road from me, she still drives, but only when she has to, a few months ago she was distraught when she received one of these tickets, and paid up as she didn't want the hassle, now she worries about visiting car parks and making sure her blue badge is blu-tacked down correctly to avoid getting fined ( this was a private car park )
And that is what sickens me most about this whole scam - they prey on the vulnerable and those least able to stand up for themselves. Now you understand the utterly immoral way in which they operate, not caring who they harm and how much psychological anguish they cause people. Hell, we've had someone presumably taking their own life over a prank phone call. Who's to say what effect of all the threatening letters from PPCs msy have on some people? We see enough threads here where people are in a panic and worried sick over a PPC ticket to know there is definitely an effect.

These people are no better that those who knock on eldely people's doors, tell them there's a few tiles need fixing on their roof, and sting them for thousands.

Driver_29, the best thing you can do to whip their backsides is to spread the word, just like all the people who responded to your thread have done. Even if you help just one person in a similar situation, you can polish your halo:A

I don't often post here, but read regularly. I was helped last year when I was given a council ticket, but successfully had it cancelled, thanks in part to the help and support here.

Definitely complain to Moto now, and one each occasion a threatogram appears. Keep the faith and keep telling people!

I agee. I know my friend's wife was very worried when she was targeted by Euro Car Parks. She's an older lady and needed a lot of reassurance to stop her worrying. Luckily they gave up after only one letter.

Back from the pub, most people said i should pay the discount rate then appeal and claim the money back, a few said to forget it, as its not a real ticket, and the car park company employee said that "its not one of ours" "basically its !!!!!!!!" "and if it was one of ours it would still be !!!!!!!! made to scare punters into paying up"

I still may call CP plus for their side of things, and to tell them what ive found out. As i dont want the added stress and worry of debt collectors calling round with bailiffs.

edit - the word censored out with !!!! is waste material from the rear of a bull.

Look mate, there are some people on this board, like me, who bait these scammers as a sport.

I deliberately park where ill get a ticket, wait for them to spend £2.50 to find out who I am, and then ring them up. I explain the law, demonstrating i know the scam and they wont get a red cent out of me, and then dare them to take me to court. Its so funny taunting these crooks when they know there nothing they can do.

To date, ive had over 20 of these ridiculous invoices from three different companies, and despite my best efforts at taunting them on the phone, not one so far has followed it up after i called them.

My favourite line is "Have you seen the film Pulp Fiction? I dare you to take me to court! I DARE you to take me to court! I DOUBLE DARE you to take me to court!"
  • Heres a little update of sorts...

please go steady, as this is my first parking or motoring offence/fine.

I phoned the service area up, and although they seemed quite understanding, they basically washed their hands of it, i spoke to the duty manager, who then gave me another number to call, and i will try this later.

Im also planning on calling the number on the reverse of the parking fine letter that i received - under the contact us section its an 02 number, but only open during office hours, i may try this tomorrow.

Ive also tried to look at the letter chains, but there is only one letter listed here forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=74183 what comes next?

Studying the CP plus letter with the photos, they only show my vehicle on the road driving in and out, and not parked in the car park, if they did take this to court i would assume that without evidence to prove my vehicle was parked for the time stated it would be a lost cause

Im still a little bit concerned that if I choose to ignore totally they may take further action the next time my car visits a motorway/CP plus service area such as prevent me from leaving until I pay any outstanding fines.

I have also looked at a few other parking authority fine letters and some of them look exactly the same as the one i received from CP plus, despite being a different company, also is there something about using PO box numbers in Borhamwood, Hertfordshire?

Just before i go, I discovered some people have reported odd VAT numbers on their parking fines from CP plus, such as being the same as MOTO services on my parking fine letter these are
    Registered in England 02595379 VAT Number 589 785 353
    anything amiss there?

Tomorrow i will be calling the services again, and the number on the reverse of the CP plus fine.

And how on earth would they do that????? Do they have an SAS trained ppc employee/s at each and every service station they have a presence? Joking of course, but lets get real with this. It won't happen because its illegal for one and an impossible practice by any ppc. And its not a fine either.

  • Driver_29,

You seem determined to take this situation as if it was a real fine issued by a genuine authority and that it can be 'sorted out' by talking to them.

It's not a real fine. You are not dealing with reasonable people. These people just want your money - end of.

I don't know what else can be said to convince you of this. However I hope do eventually believe what you have read here and elsewhere and avoid wasting your hard earned cash.
