Thanks for the replies as with most things of this nature i will also take as much advice on what to do, as this could have legal consequence's, i have/need a clean enhanced CRB and a good credit rating so i need to keep clean so to speak.

sometimes theres someone in the pub who works for a parking company (APCA ?) so i will ask him i dont think this is the same as the clamping company that patrols the pub car park from time to time.

As for payment I was going to pay the £50 online to get it out of the way, but the CP plus website says that it cant process tickets with a reference number starting with 04.

I will also take this up with CP plus via the telephone number provided, and see what they say having a quick read through here would it be worth recording the call? if so would there be any legal implications of doing so? and can any one recommend an android app for the purpose?.

Im still in a bit of a panick/worry over this, and i will research further, ive still got until the 21st of this month before the fine goes up to £90 - still seems steep when compared to council car park that charges £25 to get your car released after its locked at closing ( unless you leave it and wait until the next day )

Please re-read all the advice given so far, and then TAKE IT IN.

DO NOT contact CP Plus at all.

DO NOT pay anything at all (looks like you were considering it)

DO NOT take advice from someone in the business. It is irrelevant if he works for a different company - he will be singing from the same biassed hymnsheet.

Ignoring the whole thing will not give you any kind of record, will not affect your credit rating, will not affect a CRB check, and will not result in a CCJ or anything like.

Appologies, but im a bit worried, there appears to be a heck of a lot of information to digest and i need to make sure that i know for sure.

edit to the above the bloke in the pub works for APCOA and calls in after his shift, i dont think its the same as the car park authority at the pub with the clamping signs up in the car park, got to go i will report back on my findings later.

    This is very simple.

Coming here was a very good thing to do.

Reading the advice is a very good thing to do.

Reading elsewhere on this same forum will enable you to discover that to ignore this invoice is a very good thing to do. Its been proven hundreds of times to work.

Discussing this with some bloke down the pub might be not a very good thing to do.

Taking this invoice as seriously as you are despite the sound advice given is not a very good thing to do.

The advice is simple and straightforward.

Ignore the invoice and any thing they might send you to scare you into paying them what they are not entitled to- your money.

Easy peasy and no need it to let it effect this Xmas party, a New Year's party and any party after that.

  • Driver_29,

You are taking this too seriously.

CP Plus are a bunch of scammers.

Their fake parking ticket has no validity in law. It is in effect an aggressive begging letter. The threats it contains are all hollow threats.

    How do I know this?

Because I have ignored many many many many (get the idea) many letters from:

    1. CP Plus (Parasitic vermin who infest other companies car parks).

    2. Debt Recovery Plus (The next scammers in the chain who will send equally pathetic letters after CP Plus send you their 3 standard letters).

    3. Zenith Collections (Debt Recovery Plus again, pretending to be another company - gosh how scarey!)

So guess what I'm advising you to do?
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .

Ignore them all and keep your money.

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .

or you could ask some prat down the pub who will try and justify his existence by telling you the threats are real and you should pay.

If you don't believe all the advice you've been given in this thread, and all the other threads on this forum then go ahead and give CP Plus your money. Some people won't be helped.

No, no, no. If the OP really insists on throwing his money away, then I can't think of a worse cause than a PPC, whereas I would be far more deserving recipient, if he wants to make out a cheque to me. :D

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take the advice given and just ignore. I speak from experience, the credit of which goes to the good people on this forum! I received a total of 7 letters from CPPlus before they gave up. Yes, they are intimidating and worrying, that's what they designed to be!! But Don't fall for it. It's all bluff and bluster.
    Hope you stick it out . . . . . :)

A satisfied customer ;) we like successes like jayyar here, we don't charge for giving this advice all we ask is that they spread the word.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

theres a few options: ignore it or fight it.
To fight it you can calim for harrasment against the service area, and the parking company if they keep sending threats after you tell them to stop.

ignoring it does exactly what it says, and by it thats not just the first letter, thats all the junk they send you after that, there is a sticky with some letters on at the top so you can play snap, although after a quick look the post protection of freedoms act stuff isnt there yet.

    above all dont panic.

OMG you are still taking this far too seriously. What more can we say? :(

How about another forum's advice, pepipoo are also parking ticket advisers. Recent general advice about what to do and the POPLA option:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=46975

Old but still solid advice to put your mind at rest about your credit rating:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=24362

Oh, and what about a Barrister's advice?

    http://www.justanswer.com/uk-law/5isk3-hi-overstayed-berkley-precinct-car-park-ecclesall-rd.html

scroll down to the answer there (applies to any fake PCN from any PPC) and you will read a barrister's view:

''This is a private land fine. They are unenforceable. This is not a parking fine however it may look. These companies are private firms that have no more right to punish you for the manner of your parking than your neighbour does. Only the police or the local Council can do that.''

    ...

I have ignored two fake PCNs and I also have a job that requires a clean enhanced CRB check (primary school). I used to work in a Bank, so am well aware of the importance of my credit rating stying squeaky clean.

But unlike you, I laughed out loud when I saw the two (separate, different years) fake PCNs on my windscreen as I already knew this was a scam. I still carry the debt collector letters in my handbag to help convince friends & colleagues never to take these invoices seriously. I am just an ordinary wife and Mum but like several other regulars, I come here to this forum almost every day to stop law-abiding people like you from falling for this con!

    ...

And words fail me about your plan to listen to the opinion of another scammer (APCOA, Google them or search this or pepipoo forum!!). TBH once you understand the score here, I would LOVE to hear what Mr APCOA said down the pub, we would love to hear what lies he spouted!!

IT IS NOT A FINE!!!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Anyone still clamping cars on private land is committing a criminal offence.
