Tesco Grocery Delivery Substitutions

  • I had two annoying substitutions today. They weren't odd ones or anything but whoever picked my shopping lacked common sense.

First was 30 eggs subbed for 15 eggs. The 30 pack was on offer so I appreciate it probably wasn't in stock but why not send me 2 packs of 15?

Second was Value Battered Fish subbed for Value Fish Fillets. Yes they're both fish but I wanted battered fish. I find it hard to believe there was absolutely no battered fish in the store. :wall:

They did something similar to me. I ordered 2 packs of own-brand 4 breaded chicken fillets and they subbed with 2 packs of Birds Eye. The Birds Eye were more expensive than the Tesco ones, so they price-matched. But... there were only 2 in each pack. So I got 4 pieces for the same price as 8! Why didn't they send me 4 packs of 2?

I ordered curry paste, rice, spices, cream and a large tub of natural low fat yoghurt to do a curry. The small tub of strawberry yoghurt didn't really seem a good option, but the packer thought it might work.

I ordered some weight watchers double cream (200ml) from asda, they subbed extra thick double cream 350ml, bang goes the diet...
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • All I got in my Asda delivery was big mushrooms instead of small ones :-(

Ocado - have always delivered what I ordered so no complaints there.

    Tesco -

Ordered 2 bags of fruit and annoyingly they just sent one alternative.

Ordered a cake and annoyingly they sent cake bars.

Ordered Chai and they sent cappuccino.

Though they can get it right, ordered 2 bags of 1.5kg frozen chips and they sent 3 bags of 1kg and price matched so well done there. Sometimes get smoked v unsmoked bacon same brand/price.

  • I ordered cat food in jelly.

Got substituted for Hartley's orange jelly...

Even the cats turned their nose up at that

:rotfl::rotfl: That has to be the best I've ever heard! I don't think our cats would have been too pleased either.

I agree sometimes they do get it right. Our other sub yesterday was Tescos Blue Stilton instead of the Value one we'd ordered which kind of made the other subs more confusing as they'd got the first one right.
