Tesco Grocery Delivery Substitutions

Options
Had my strangest Tesco grocery substitution in my order today. Ordered one pack of smoked sliced bacon (basic stuff, nothing fancy). Had a pack of pre-cooked fajita flavour chicken delivered.

Apparently, the 'pick' machines in store tell the pickers what to choose (not sure I believe that).

Clearly the days of common sense have finally disappeared if anyone thinks pre-cooked chicken is a substitute for a nice slice of back bacon.;)

And on a random note, they popped in a couple of packs of Halls throat sweets....................

I'm sure those on here have had far worse :D

Have rang and asked for suitable feedback to go back to the store in case someone is having a bad day.

Speaking from experience ( Not from Mr T mind but JS ) the handsets do give an alternative as to what to offer as a sub but we can choose our own alternative if theres a better 1, I would have thought Tesco would be the same.

I always ask for no substitutions now after some of the crazy ones I've got. Two of the most memorable were dog food instead of cat food; where I had to spend 10 minutes explaining to the driver why I didn't want it and why it wouldn't 'just do' and one where I got send a twix bar instead of tampax!

Always best to say no to substitutions or stipulate several other options.

I've had some stonking saves from accepting substitutions - if I order a 'basic' item, they will sometimes sub a far more valuable (even Taste the Difference) item and refund the difference.

PS - Twix bars for Tampax is a classic and will keep me chuckling for a while
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I once got slim fast instead of baby formula...
The funniest part was the delivery driver asking "what's the difference?"
  • I once got a bag of apricots instead of apricot facial scrub!

Senior cat food instead of kitten cat food, onion ring crisps instead of frozen onion rings, cabbage instead of cauliflower, and a guava instead of 2 passionfruit.....
  • Oh good lord I think I just snorted tea at twix for tampax! I think my best one so far is lemon scented floor cleaner in pleace of lemon barley squash. That or black litter bags instead of cat litter!
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?
