Thank you everybody :) I've just discovered that if I leave her sleeping after the 9am feed I can have my breakfast before midday! Who knew! She's still sleeping so I've chopped the veg for dinner tonight and got out a frozen pre-made pasta bake that we made back in November for our dinner tonight. I'll put it with some frozen veg I think.I've also just managed to request to reopen my benefit points for work this year so I can add childcare vouchers, will store those up until I need to use them.
I'm setting myself a goal of £5k to save this year on top of what I've already saved. So we're wiping the slate clean and starting again from 0. It'll have to include fleabay sales and qu1dco cashback, plus whatever else I can manage to find as my pay is going to drop in a month or so due to mat leave. When I go back in October I'll be back to saving the £1k a month again, but on average I'm going to have to save £416 per month, I best start off overpaying that at the beginning then otherwise I'll never make it.
When I went into labour the other week our landlord popped by to pick up some post, he said to us that we can have first refusal on buying the house and to just let him know when we're thinking of buying. We let him know that we're going to be saving up our deposit and that it won't be until I'm back in work, but that's definitely given us something to think about. This house needs some work doing to it, however there's a HUGE attic space for a loft conversion so the property has potential, we wouldn't need to move and our neighbours are nice on both sides.
Today is the first day that I've managed both breakfast and lunch at reasonable times. Breakfast was at 9:30am and lunch at 2:30pm, I feel I have achieved something..then I remember that the nappy leaked whilst I was holding the baby and my pyjamas are now currently in the wash covered in poop...well at least I didn't get it all over the bed :) I'm sure she saves it all up overnight for that first early morning nappy, yummy! I will not become one of those mothers that talks about poop...nor will I talk to my child in baby language, although I was making ooh and ahh noises at her earlier, but I have told OH off for saying "nap nap" instead of "nappy".

  • Haha, give it time you'll be talking fluent baby language soon enough :p (and if you don't do it you're honestly missing out:rotfl:) I miss asking the kids if they want din-dins and if they eat it all up then they can have a bic-bic after :p:rotfl:....

Oh and well done you for remembering to eat! No wonder I ended up so anaemic I was breast feeding but forgetting to feed myself as I was so tired .

Look forward to seeing your savings grow too and how great that the house you're already in could be an option :T if that's the case you don't mind doing it up whilst in there I suppose :)

Take care and huggles for bubba :D

Hi everyone :) I've just had my first mat leave pay come through...I have no idea how but I've got £750 more than I normally get when I'm working! Not going to knock it though and I did know that my referral bonus would impact my mat pay, but didn't realise by that much :) I've shoved almost £2k into savings and updated my signature.

Brizzled - the weather has been pants and really hasn't helped the cases of damp and mould we have in the house. We've bought a dehumidifier to keep the mould at bay, the landlord has erected scaffolding and is going to claim on insurance for the work that needs doing eep! We're up for visitors when you're not so busy, but I shall text you shortly anyway :)

Isabella is growing really quickly! I have no idea where she gets the tall gene from but she's only 3 weeks old and fills 3/4 of her moses basket. At her weigh in on Thursday she was a whopping 8lb 7oz! She'd gained 1lb since the week before. All for free as well as I'm breastfeeding her.

OH and I are having the groceries delivered at the moment and some how it's costing more than if we went to the shops, however we actually have proper meals and not takeaways now :) We're going to have a cookathon this afternoon, veggie shepherds pie, five-veg lasagne, cheesy broccoli pasta bake and mushroom, spinach & potato pie. All recipes are on bbcg00dfood and should make enough for 4 meals.

Izzie has been having lots of tummy time and can now hold her head up for over 30 seconds, and hold it at a 45 degree angle (such a proud mummy). We're not quite at smiles yet though. She can also track objects with her eyes and looks from one page to the next of her black & white book :)

Right, I am meant to be tidying up the bedroom...best get on before she wakes xx
