We've got 15% deposit. I've got £10k I'm borrowing from my dad and OH has £27k. Then we'll split fees between us as I've got my half saved and he's got the rest of his inheritance for that. When I'm back working I'd then look to pay him back the £8k so we were equal. Complicated bud it'll work for us. Our broker has put in an application in principle to Kensington for a mortgage. They've got some really bad press for if it goes wrong, but we only intend to stay for the 2 or 3yr fixed then switch to high street. My default is 3yrs in August and we've both got one that drops in September. Will have to see if we get it though.

We still have no shower! !! Asked for advice on the rental board and someone said "first world problems". Won't go there again.

Baby now sleeps 5-7hrs a night, bliss :) I however am still z night owl so get less sleep. OH keeps telling me what a good mum I am though. I'm just doing my best (I have sung grand old Duke of York whilst marching hat legs probably 20x a day since she was born).

Dfw have you decided where you will buy yet? We've finally decided on which part of the area we live in we want to buy

  • Oh bless I have had three night owl babies who would only sleep during the day now. Hence why I refused to have more! I like to go to bed early and get up early! I feel your pain and I hope she starts sleeping through soon :)

We want to live in a different county which is going to be a bit of a nightmare with viewing properties when the time comes to it! its much cheaper up there though so we don't need as much money as we would living here at least! My search area covers a good 15-20 mile radius though. I've lived in many of the places as a child though so I know the area pretty well and know where to avoid and where ideally we'd like to be. We need another 12k really so not sure how I'm going to magic that up ;) we'd like 37k as you have  best get my thinking cap on :rotfl: we're waiting until September for that reason of the default finally dropping off. Most will be gone in June but that one in September is a big one so we'll wait and hopefully get a yes! Good luck with yours :D

One of the rare moments where the baby is napping during the day. I've just spent 2 hrs feeding her to sleep. She's a terror and snacks so never gets full. I've persevered and she's sleeping softly woohoo. She had me up every 2hrs last night the monkey so I needed the 2hrs feeding to doze.

We've gone to a 2nd mortgage broker and he's meant to be calling me today. Houses are coming on and off the market within a few days so we'll have to get in there quickly. I've had the letting agent round this morning to take pictures of the bathroom. We're so fed up of this house now and have been without a shower for a month :( the assessor pulled up the floor and you can see its a complete bodge in there.

Salary goes down to SMP this month but I'm being good and sticking to only spending £20 a week on personal spends. I did get my haircut on Saturday, but seeing how it hadn't been cut since September I think the £30 was justified.

OH is trying a gluten free diet at the moment. He's doing a morning exercise bootcamp on Mondays, Wednesday abd Fridays but can't lose the tyre round his belly so trying gluten free in case it's diet related. That's going to mean extra pennies spent on the grocery budget though. I really need to start shopping for veg at the farm shop again, the budget is tipping £60 a week and I've no idea how :(

  • Budgets seem to go out of the window sometimes don't they, good for you reigning it back in. I really want to get back to the farm shop but it's always so busy when I go you have to allow an hour and half just for that one shop and it's kind of scared me off a little! (Travel including)

Are you looking to buy in the city or surrounding towns/villages? I've noticed when I look on RM that the houses for sale in Lincoln itself go very very quickly and the further out you go the longer they seem to hang around. Clearly everyone (bar me) wants to live centrally! I hope you get good news soon and are able to find somewhere you both love :) xx

Lovely to hear from you :) hope everything is going well for you and thanks she's exhausting but worth it xx

We've had an offer accepted on a house :) it's a 3 bed seni with plenty of space to extend later and grow veg :) super excited although it's been a really stressful few weeks. OH is still bricking it about getting into so much debt, but at least the "rent" is going in as equity rather than to pay someone else's mortgage. Going to take the paperwork to the solicitors today and we're arranging the mortgage on Thursday. I'm so excited and the cats will be able to go outside as well yay xx

Update from me, sorry I'm in a baby bubble and a house buying bubble! Our solicitors are conducting searches and we're waiting for the mortgage company to get back to us. I'm really hoping we hear back before next week so we can give notice on this place. The shower has been fixed but the kitchen ceiling still could come down and nothing else has been sorted. I've called environmental health and someone is coming wednesday morning to look at the house.
Baby is growing quickly, she's already in 6-9m clothes! !! I'll post a photo of how she looks now when I get a spare minute.
I'm trying to flog things on gumtree at the moment. It seems harder than eBay though and people try to barter you down. I know how much I want to raise in total though and anything that's not nailed down is going so I can buy Izzie a floor bed for her mattress and a weaning table & chair :)

Hope you're all well. I had a lovely salad out of our garden on Sunday. It was delicious and tres healthy
