I am here and have read your updates and am soo excited to hear that your scan went well ! I could burble on forever but won't tonight as I am using the silly iPad which everyone knows I can't type on . Shame you aren't 45 mins in the other direction when you visit Ipswich next week or we could have shared tea and cake as well, and then popped a piece in the post for Mrs B !!

I will try and pop back in tomorrow.

Tricky issue this Kerri. Personally pre marriage I have known people Have a joint account and a personal individual account too. They then pay in an agreed sum into a joint account - which might vary depending on your salary, but then all costs come from that joint account and anything spare in your individual account is yours...helpful when like me you have ( had!:rotfl:) a Clar.ns habit and he had a CD one... Means no one can complain on the boll.x one spends ones cash on..:rotfl: helpful for decreasing the blood pressure and number of rows!!

BUT to be honest we have just chucked everything into a joint account for years..way before we got married, in fact when we started living together. When we have had cash we then agreed an individual allowance, or acceptable spends. That was OK. However at moment we are probably closer in mind and spirit over money than possibly ever ( thanks to this great site:cool:) and so we are spending only after we have BOTH agreed its the right thing to do...bliss....:D:T

This is my thoughts, chuck it all in together and then have a personal spends budget that we can spend on whatever we want each month. It remains a constant regardless of what we get paid, and it just feels a bit more fair to me even if we're not being paid the same salary. He indoors however won't agree to this regardless of how I try to win him round. It doesn't help that I'm the one with the higher salary, so he just says he wants to pay his own way. hrumph!

Next week has moved to the week after now, I'm quite glad as I didn't want to go next week as too much going on. My sister has just announced the baby on her FB page, she's excited about being an auntie :)

Thank you :) Ah but it'll force us to save for a house instead of spending all our money, so in a way it is a MSE baby :)

I have to go into the office today, I am going to go past the bun shop and get an iced ring doughnut mmm. Not MSE, but I like them haha! and only 50p I might even expense it wohaha

Well news of the day is I applied for a 0% for 5 months BC after reading about it in the newsletter. I've been given an £800 limit. So this month I'm transferring £800 of hard cash to my vanqu1s and shall use the BC for the spends I would have spent. I will also be reducing the VC with further monies, but knowing that £800 of the limit will be interest free is really helpful. I can't spend on the VC anyway because I don't know the pin number :)

Hmm I think it's time for a signature update and I should really get onto that snowball thingy.

BC activated, logged onto the online whatsit and requested a BT to VC of £720. It's cost me £20.88 and 6.9% interest until it's cleared. I might pay this straight away at payday so I incur no interest...we shall see. The card is 0% on purchases for 5 months.

So debts now stand once that's gone through:
    VC: £2270.66
    BC: £740.88
    OD: £250

So £3261.54 of debt, plus the interest VC are about to put on and the interest BC may put on for the BT. *sigh* I hate money.

  • You're doing great and your debts will be cleared before you know it :T

Before I was a housewife (hate that word...) DH used to give me half of his wages and I would pay all the bills from my account. We never did the joint account until we had DD as he was awful with money. And after I had her we only did it as I needed access to his money whilst he was on tour. We ended up more in debt so we've reverted back to me paying for everything and him giving me enough to cover it. You should split the money how you feel is best. If you're better at paying the bills/better with money than your OH then perhaps just take enough off him to cover his share. Does he ask to see all the bills etc ? If not you could always tell a white lie and ask him for less than you are paying so you overcome the whole him being skint and you having lots left over? My dh is useless with money lol so it's always worked better with me doing everything bill related.

I hope the sickness hasn't hit you! And I concur with canucksfan, babies will come when they want and you EDD will be completely ignored by him or her ;) all of mine were late (earliest was 6 days overdue, latest was 15 days overdue ) and i've heard it's very common to go over with your first :) so you may have a mid-Jan baby instead. But think how cool it would be to have it on time and at 12:00 on 1st Jan! What a great birthday time/date! :)

Shhh DFW we don't want a fireworks baby...although that would be pretty awesome wouldn't it...errr...

My sister keeps telling me I should get a travel system instead of a pushchair, so I can unclip the car seat from the car and put it straight on the pushchair bit. From all the reviews I've read the travel systems are bulky and heavy. The reviews of the car seats I've read, I know I want one of the large car seats that doesn't fit into a travel system... So I am thinking I ignore my sisters advice, I'm going to be living in a city with plenty of public transport, trying to drive in Bristol is a nightmare and parking is hellish. So why do I need a car seat that clips in and out of the car? Not only that, but I've always found the ones my sister has to be a right pain in the whatsit to get in and out the car, and they were stupid heavy after my nephews were 6 months old. I think I need to speak with the OH about this. We could be MSE and only buy the one car seat if we go for a pushchair instead of a travel system.
Oh and I've just argued with her about rearward facing car seats, they're proven to be safer but she won't have any of it.

  • as far as I know they have to be in a rearward facing carseat until at least 9 months old and over a certain weight limit? I got myself a M&P 9 in 1 pram thing. Off ebay mind so second hand and much cheaper! It had the car seat, could be used as a travel system (i.e just the car seat on the base) or as a proper pram which was ridiculously huge lol but i loved it ;) i used it for long walks mainly so loved the fact it was comfy for little un :) and as I didn't use public transport it didn't matter that it was quite bulky! It fitted in the car but only just lol. You should go with whatever will suit your needs best really. With my ds1 i had a pushchair from as soon as he could sit up at 5 months as I didn't drive and it had to be light and fold up easily for buses so i've had them across the range (including double but I don't think you're having twins? ;) )

    xx

DFW if you continue I'm going to end up having kittens on NYE! :p hahaha Definitely not twins there was only one of them in there, I should scan the scan photo so I can show you all my little one. So small and looked so perfect already. Another hospital appointment tomorrow, first appt with the consultant-led whatsit. I feel particularly ick this morning, I have told baby to behave as I have a conference call at 9am but it's not going to. Deep breathes and try not to convulse on the phone eep.

Have just paid £18.52 to BC, they added on 14p interest, it's weird seeing it going on daily. So I looked in my bank account and found the minimum payment so I can make tilly tidies :) made me feel better and I still have £25 left before payday on Friday. Will update sig after con call.

I am phoning up letting agents today, I've seen one I like in Stapleton and also in Brentry.

Update: There signature updated, we have a monthly totals, actual totals, and my baby deadline :p

Just called about both properties, the one in Stapleton has an EPC rating of E  the one in Brentry they are going to call me back as the landlord said no pets, but sometimes they can swing it with a cat...swing a cat get it :D They are very well behaved pedigree cats I let her know, not just your average moggy. Must try to find a letting agent that understands the difference in cats, maybe that'll make us seem more responsible.
