Well OH started new job today, he now is uber worried that he's going to be no good at it, they're going to sack him, and we'll have a baby on the way and no money coming in....guess which one of us is blessed with optimism.
I spent my remaining £70 on cycling clothes yesterday, OH is using the last of the joint account funds for train fare, and so we are left with £100 in savings *gulp*

I need to work out how much we can feasibly take with us on this holiday. I should be paid £2300 depending on overtime this could increase to £2600, but for safety we'll stick with the lower amount...so...

£260 - train fare for OH
    £900 - rent
    £190 - c/tax
    £116 - electricity bill
    £40 - gym
£35 - home insurance (car already paid)
    £20 - my mobile
    £25 - his mobile
    £200 - food budget

So that leaves £514 remaining eep!

Hmm I think I might book our accommodation in advance, it's looking like it'll be less than £20 for the two of us with our tent per night. If I book it in advance then at least I know it's booked and I can plan our route map, instead of getting incredibly nauseous and arguing with the boys about where we are meant to be staying :D Hmm I wish I had one of those solar thingys for charging your phone though.

Booking in advance sounds a good idea Kerri although the campsites in France don't tend to get as heavily booked as those over here I have found. You are going to France aren't you, I didn't dream that bit did I ?!! :o

Take a look at the Cool Camping Website, they have some campsites on there.

I am sure the money will eek itself out just fine with all of your meticulous planning. I am sure OH will make a great daddy , the job will go fine and all will be good !

Hope you are feeling well xxx

Thanks Mrs P, OH is feeling a lot less stressed today and he was home before 7 :D he then cooked a dreadful dinner and was cross with the bengal cat for destroying his beloved air plant. I'm sure I can get him another on ebay for a few £££.

Sent 17 parcels off to the post office today, transferred money into the business account. Took back the £30 from the business that I lent the other day for getting cash for petty cash.

    Have spent £0 today :D

Total naps taken today just the 1, blood test in the morning but feeling much better now I've upped my dose. I almost feel it might be a little too high, but I don't feel heart palpitations so I'm sure I'm fine. Just need to make sure I'm drinking enough as stood up and saw stars the other day.

Am starting to think I'd like to live on the outskirts of Bristol, within a 5 mile radius of OH's work. Not as busy or noisy, but at least I'll be able to drive around without getting massive road rage. Oh the car! I dinged it this morning whoops. Drove into parking space still half asleep after dropping OH at train station and crunch. Superficial damage of a minor scratch so I can get away with it :D

Have submitted all claims for cashback, just need to get toiletries for holiday and some camping mats as I am not sleeping on the floor. Dad is going to lend me a beanbag pillow :D haven't told the OH this yet though wohahaha.

Oh and going to fleabay the entire flat to make sure we have some pennies this month. Failing that I will just get rid of all the bits in boxes that need to be sold before we move :D

I am coming to realise that my sister and I have very different views on life. My sister is most concerned that my mother is resigning from her job and going to live off my Dads' inheritance money. My sister sees this as my mother spending the money that would have bought my sister a house, in my sisters eyes it is already her money. On the other hand, I don't really care what my Dad does with the money, it's his money to spend as he chooses and I have no business knowing about it or voicing an opinion about it. There was once talk of him giving myself and my sister some of it, but whether he did or not I don't really mind. It would be nice to have some help towards buying a property of our own, but if I want a house I should earn it myself. My sister sees things very differently and wants things handed to her on a silver platter...can you tell which of us is the career girl and which isn't?

Anyway, I am super duper excited I have one conference call left and then I'm going into town and buying our Euros, I probably should have ordered in advance but to be honest I never find there's that much difference. I need to find M&S, then I need to go to Cotswold for sleeping mats, having decided I don't like the idea of sleeping on the ground. They've set us back £90 but I'm sure it'll be worth it.
The Euros will set me back £300, that's to feed the two of us, supply OH with beer and me with icecream and pay for our accommodation. Accommodation has been paid for in advance for the first two nights, seemed like the sensible option and then we can wing it from there on as we might not end up where we are meant to.
Breakfasts are going to be pastries, coffee and fresh juice bought from boulangeries. Lunches will be some sort of baguette with cheese mmm (I will look up the word "pasturized" to be on the safe side). Dinners will either be homemade on the stove or eaten out, however the French don't really believe in vegetarianism so I think we'll find it hard.

So I think £300 for two people for one week away is reasonable. I've found that most places you can put two tents on one pitch easily enough and they either charge a few euro surcharge or nothing extra. So it works out about £13 each :D I can't believe how cheap it is.

I hope I manage to cycle the whole 212 miles without falling off my bike. I bought spd shoes recently and haven't had a chance to test them. I'm sure it'll be ffiiiiiine. eep

Anyway, still a few more things to get beforehand this month is going to be very very tight. Might use boots points to get the smellies we need. See MSE head on :D

Speak to you all when I get back :D xx

  • I know where you are coming from regarding your sister! My dad is quite well off as is his brother and my sisters and I are of the opinion that it's not our money but our dads. We pay our own way (we are all pretty much on the breadline though) and if he wanted to go to vegas and blow it all on roulette then so be it ;) but my cousins are the most money-grabbing people I have ever seen! They constantly harass my uncle and indeed have made him pay for each of their deposits on houses (he has 5 kids) perhaps they are on to something though. All 20 somethings with houses  but I would rather earn it myself and have the satisfaction of saying 'I did this' and for my dad to have worked all his life and then to give it all away??? I don't personally think it's right. Even if it is to his kids! Just my opinion though ;)

    I'm back :D

Wow we are super skint this month and I've been panicking a bit since we got back. However, have found a bill for the council tax to say the DD doesn't start until July :D so that's £200 saved phew we shall eat more than bread and gruel this month.

In fact, that means we can live on our normal £50 per week and feast like kings! Haha!

Scan is booked for Monday, I can't explain how super duper excited I am to meet our little person for the very first time, even if it's going to be a little blob with a heart beat. OH is going to try to get time off work in the morning, booked for 8:15, so he can come and meet too. Shall send him on to work after the scan though so he doesn't get home too late.

Oh my hormones + holidays + feeling stressed that cycling 150 miles in 6 days might end up losing the baby are not relaxing holibobs at all! Apparently I was like a different woman when we reached the boat and chilled out massively. Needless to say I now require a holiday to get over my holiday.

So all change then. OH and I have finally decided we shall move to the lovely city of Bath, the house prices are much the same as we pay now but the ovens are nicer than those for the same money in Bristol. Ovens are a big thing, you know the horrible white ones you get in rented with electric hobs no fan and they cook everything wonky...I do not want one of those. Plus we'll be able to get house with garden instead of flat with no outside space. I'm also not a fan of living in a big city and trying to drive around in rush hour so we more or less ruled that the OH will have to catch the train from Bath to Bristol and then cycle. This will however half his cycling distance each day.

Letter from the letting agents when we returned demanding 1/4 months rent to renew our contract and they want to know by today, even though there are 2 months left on the lease. Quick call to the landlord we have agreed to stay until the end of August giving us enough time to get deposit together and not have to rush to fine our lovely place to live. It also means we're less likely to find somewhere that's a student digs as that's all that appears to be available at the moment. I want to move mid-August so we have at least a week to get the place professionally cleaned and everything moved. I shall be fleabaying anything we're not taking with us over the next few months.

Can't think what else I have to say, oh yes money is very, very tight this month. Might have to call the cc and tell them I can only make a token payment as we're so tight, I shall review how much the business makes to see if I can pay them anything extra and try to keep food spends to minimum but given that the OH blew £50 in 2 days on beer and food, I might have to ban him from shopping at all.

Hope you're all well, off to catch up on your diaries now.
