Fear of JSA being stopped.

The fact is that the site you mention gives people the impression that they can take a hard line approach to the WP perfectly legally. Whilst this may be true legislation changes are happening all of the time and someone given the advice on that site may end up going off half-cocked when they attend the WP appointment and could end up sanctioned. Similarly, the person attending may indeed be correct and the provider gets it wrong in which case you could be looking at months of hardship due to sanctions.I bet that makes you feel important! :rotfl:
I would imagine that many people being referred to the WP are not militants but merely feel down in the dumps and fed-up with life and just want go in and do what they must just to retain the meagre sum of money that they are meant to live on. Sure, I know a few people who would gladly kick up a fuss just for the hell of it but I know an awful lot more who would just want to get it over and done with without causing a fuss and without risk of losing what precious little they get to feed and clothe themselves, not to mention keeping a roof over their heads!0 -
I've asked people if they could borrow it me but to no avail, a few even put the reason down as I might not even get the JSA paid because we all know I'm sure they do sometimes not put a payment in and feed you an excuse.
I wish I lived in Essex now haha thanks for the offer Miss H it's appreciated
but alas I don't live even remotely close there.
I was actually referring to a documentary some while back that shown some of the JCP tactics and dark secrets they have, they are suppose to put them false job advertisements out there to try catch people out from saying things like "Yeah I went to the interview and it was fairly ok" because if you say something like that they'd have you on a hook, now as much as I think people shouldn't lie and say the truth always but I also think that it shouldn't be legal to trick people like that.
But this new job site that's mentioned are you referring to this Universal Jobmatch thing? I'm yet to sign up to it yet and I know it's part of my agreement that I have to do it, if people can potentially steal details like my CV then I might not bother, plus they've never informed that it'd be possible for info to be stolen so I'm not happy about that it's their job to inform me of these things.
Is there a way to prevent the info being stolen? What should I do if anything gets stolen? Luckily it'd make no difference with the passport atleast mines out of date atleast so sucks for anyone that tries stealing it.
Appointment is today, I know I'll feel a sinking feeling when time comes, I've even resorted to looking for change on the floor when I've been out, I'm usually fairly lucky and I could find a fairly decent amount but at the moment nothing but a couple of pennies sadly so unless some miracle happens then there's no way I can go unfortunately and then I guess I'll be under a ton of stress an fighting their decision for the whole of Christmas, I'm surprised I'm not claiming for depression yet because it is getting to me slowly.
Just out of interest. You say you havent got £5 to pay for the bus.....
How do you plan to feed yourself/pay bills/heat the house for the foreseeable future?
Surely more of a problem than the bus fare?0 -
OP, I have been in similar circumstances regarding borrowing a fiver when I was your age. Having not even a penny to my name, I was asked by a Post office (as they had been on strike) to ask a neighbour if I could borrow a fiver so they could cash my giro. even on trying to do this bizarre idea of knocking on complete strangers doors to ask for a fiver. They then insisted I had not asked and paid me in £1 coins as a result.
Some people just cannot grasp the idea that you cannot just pop over to a friends house and borrow a fiver.
They know NOT what it is like to have nothing and forced to beg for a few quid. They have absolutely no concept on the notion that even friends or family cannot bail you out. Not everyone was born with such a silver spoon they only need tap the person next to them for a tab.
You have no bicycle, no money, no way of getting any money, thus no way of making it to your destination.
I would make it pretty clear to the JC that this is the case and the reason you dont think you are going to be able to make it there.
Marley,
I take exception to your comment here about being born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Not everyone who can afford things now was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Some of us were born into poor families and have made an effort.
Not suggesting for one moment that anyone with no money has made no effort. But you seem to be implying that its luck that allows you to have more money.0 -
FOI requests to the DWP via whatdotheyknow.com are the only evidence I'd trust and I'd hope no one would mark them up as spam.
Tony Blair addresses to himself in his memoirs while reflecting on his government's introduction of the Freedom of Information Act."You idiot. You naive, foolish, irresponsible nincompoop. There is really no description of stupidity, no matter how vivid, that is adequate. I quake at the imbecility of it."
Anyway to respond to the OP problem
The Department for Work and Pensions
The following are examples of what might be considered to be a crisis, and for which a Crisis Loan may be awarded:Waiting for the first payment of Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance (income-related), Pension Credit or payment on account of one of these benefits or entitlements, with not enough money to live on.

Just wait until that little sh#t IDS introduces monthly only Universal Credit payments, then the sh#t will really hit the fan for folks like the OP.0 -
It has nothing to do with being born with a silver spoon in their mouth or not, but to do with budgeting. OP knew that at any stage she could be called to go to an interview, so she should have budgeted for this from the first time she got money in her account.
And if she couldn't find or borrow £5, then I'm sure she could have found something to sell for that amount. Does she have a mobile, CDs, jewelry, clothing? All these could have raised £5.0 -

You have a very good point here....
Anyone can make excuses if they dont want to do something which I think deep down is what the OP is thinking.0 -

surely if the OP could borrow £5 he/she wouldn't be on here asking his/her options.0

How could I have budgeted to save me this £5?
I'm not psychic I had no idea my grandmother was going to suddenly pass away, which resulted in a lot of loans being passed down throughout the entire family, it's split most of us apart with only a few of us stuck together because my side got no help we were just lumped with it by the rest of the family, and with everyone feeling upset over the passing an me being naturally able to care about everyone no matter what I became the strong rock and willingly helped out best I could.
Yes I have a mobile, it rarely has credit in it but I have given JCP my number and employers also have it that have my CV down on file, it'd look pretty strange if they tried phoning an got no answer especially if it was to arrange me an interview.
Also how can I be expected to sell anything? I don't own music cd's my music is all owned on my iPod through gift vouchers my family has given me for me helping out with various things, my iPod was an 18th birthday gift from my grandmother, I sold a lot of things including my favourite movies to pay off bills an bring in food for a few months, what I have left to myself are family gifts I've recieved over the years so no I won't sell anything like that, not everyone will understand it but I can't be expected to sell the memories of my family members, I live by the rule of the human being even though the rule of law is more powerful I'm not going to bend backwards just to please the JCP I am human being and I have rights.
While I agree in ways with the silver spoon theory it isn't entirely true, I was born into a a decent family in terms of wealth not too rich and not too poor, I've always had more than I asked for and I've always repaid my favours, I have dreams of my own I want to pursue but I can't till this situation is sorted, I want to be able to pursue my future but I can't till I get paid work, I hate numbers and stuff like that but I've already worked out the cost of what my dream is an how long it'd take to get there.
I'm working at everything as hard as I can.0
