Have you even tried to ask any of your friends/family? You are assuming that they don't have a fiver, but they might actually be prepared to give up something for a whilst if it means they can help a friend get a job. I know students are not rich, but there is surely one who can spare £5.

Particularly as he only needs to borrow it for a day or so!

I know it's just a fiver, a fiver I don't have or can borrow from anyone and I can't get a lift I'd cycle there if I could if it meant getting there.

And I know what BlueArrow is it shown on their website when I tried using that to contact them that way, I just find it suspicious that their contact form didn't work on there, the email address given didn't work, the phone number doesn't work, it seems far too dodgy for my liking by the JCP.

I actually look forward to getting work that way I can save up money for a solid year so I can study abroad to study Japanese and then take a Uni course in Game Design, I want to do something with my life not have the Job Centre try dismantling my dreams, I do my part of the agreement and more, they should atleast try to fulfill their end of it.

Quite justifiably you sound very frustrated. JC staff could have been a bit more helpful. Hopefully the need won't arise again but next time just go up to your adviser and ask to speak to him / her.

If you are asked about the interview explain all the problems you have had and the efforts you have gone to. If you have not received any JSA before the interview date then say that as well. If you think it may help print out all these posts

There are no ghost jobs to try and catch out JSA claimants. Not sure why you have not been able to contact the employer ?

    Good luck

the OP was refferring to the ghost jobs on the new jobcentre job site, that were placed to get peoples private details, such as CVs Passport scans etc etc it has been all over the news!

All someone has to do, is place a fake or real job on the site then they get access to loads of personnel details...get ready for a spate of ID theft cases.

Be very careful what you upload on there.
  • Rainlight,

ask 5 people - friends/family if they will lend you £1 each for a couple of days until your JSA comes through.

Or - if you live in Essex I might be able to drive you to the appt, let me know the details.

    Miss H
  • I've asked people if they could borrow it me but to no avail, a few even put the reason down as I might not even get the JSA paid because we all know I'm sure they do sometimes not put a payment in and feed you an excuse.

I wish I lived in Essex now haha thanks for the offer Miss H it's appreciated :) but alas I don't live even remotely close there.

I was actually referring to a documentary some while back that shown some of the JCP tactics and dark secrets they have, they are suppose to put them false job advertisements out there to try catch people out from saying things like "Yeah I went to the interview and it was fairly ok" because if you say something like that they'd have you on a hook, now as much as I think people shouldn't lie and say the truth always but I also think that it shouldn't be legal to trick people like that.

But this new job site that's mentioned are you referring to this Universal Jobmatch thing? I'm yet to sign up to it yet and I know it's part of my agreement that I have to do it, if people can potentially steal details like my CV then I might not bother, plus they've never informed that it'd be possible for info to be stolen so I'm not happy about that it's their job to inform me of these things.
Is there a way to prevent the info being stolen? What should I do if anything gets stolen? Luckily it'd make no difference with the passport atleast mines out of date atleast so sucks for anyone that tries stealing it.

Appointment is today, I know I'll feel a sinking feeling when time comes, I've even resorted to looking for change on the floor when I've been out, I'm usually fairly lucky and I could find a fairly decent amount but at the moment nothing but a couple of pennies sadly so unless some miracle happens then there's no way I can go unfortunately and then I guess I'll be under a ton of stress an fighting their decision for the whole of Christmas, I'm surprised I'm not claiming for depression yet because it is getting to me slowly.

OP, I have been in similar circumstances regarding borrowing a fiver when I was your age. Having not even a penny to my name, I was asked by a Post office (as they had been on strike) to ask a neighbour if I could borrow a fiver so they could cash my giro. even on trying to do this bizarre idea of knocking on complete strangers doors to ask for a fiver. They then insisted I had not asked and paid me in £1 coins as a result.

Some people just cannot grasp the idea that you cannot just pop over to a friends house and borrow a fiver.

They know NOT what it is like to have nothing and forced to beg for a few quid. They have absolutely no concept on the notion that even friends or family cannot bail you out. Not everyone was born with such a silver spoon they only need tap the person next to them for a tab.

You have no bicycle, no money, no way of getting any money, thus no way of making it to your destination.

I would make it pretty clear to the JC that this is the case and the reason you dont think you are going to be able to make it there.
