Hi Idle - I notice a few posters picking up on the fact that you may have fitted the 'wrong' type of battery.
However, I see, on your original picture, that the batteries were Panasonic. These are not widely available, in UK shops, but do seem to be the favoured brand for Far Eastern manufacturers to supply with toys and electronic equipment.
May I ask if these were the batteries supplied with the toy?
If not, was there any 'warning' not to fit this type of battery?
In any case, I think that the manufacturer, and ASDA, would have a 'Duty of Care' not to sell a toy where there is the slightest risk of leakage from 'Acid' batteries.
The acid 'leakage' would have felt sticky to a child's hand, and the first and natural reaction of a young child would be to 'lick' his fingers.
I dread to think of the possible consequences.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

    1) I never said the employee was at fault
    2) I wasn't aggressive.
    3) What's her being low paid got to do with anything?
    4) It was a call centre I rang.
    5) No she wasn't impolite. Just inconsiderate.
    6) Yes they ignored my concern. Hence the good will gesture.
    7) Pay more attention when reading posts.
    8) Thanks for the advice but it's about as much use to me as a limp d!ck in a brothel.

2.) Yes - you admitted that with the line "I want to know why the f**k ASDA is selling toys that are dangerous"

5.) inconsiderate by sending out an apology, refund and goodwill gesture, as well as reporting it to the highest authority in her store, and the person she is directly answerable to? Maybe she should give up her holidays and go and speak to WAL-MART's head office in the USA?

7.) You could probably learn to treat people more politely, and like human beings. Then you may get the service that you're looking for.

    8.) I wouldn't know... I don't frequent brothels.... do you? tw*t

Arther I see what you are saying, but it is not the op's fault nor his childs fault whoever picked up the phone! with a large supermarket such as this you would just expect more! just a bit of concern for the welbeing of the child!

If I had gone to the store I'd have been tempted to slot the manager one. Not wise for somebody with anger problems. The phone call was the politest I've had in a long while.
    .

I would have been upset and worried too, and my 3 year old does drink bath water.

BUT it is not the girl who answered the phone's job to care about your child or to be sympathetic. It's her job to pass it on to her manager which she said she would do, together with offering to send a good will gesture while the matter was being looked into.

If I had answered the phone, whereas I would understand that you were upset and this was contributing to your 'anger problem', your swearing and general attitude towards me would have made me back off and offer as little support as I could while maintaining a professional manner.

You need to go higher than this. Complain calmly to the head office and get trading standards involved. If there is to be a recall it certainly won't have anything to do with a bod on the phone on a Sunday morning.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

You're too nice for me to ever disagree with.

:o :kisses3: I hope you get it sorted out. Things like this worry me silly. You have to put your trust in companies to provide you with safe toys for your children. FWIW I got good results from trading standards a couple of years ago when I found my child playing with a screw from a toy I'd bought (with a kitemark.)

The script is all she has to offer, she will be a near minimum wage student in all likelyhood and she may have handled it a bit poorly. Take the matter up with someone who can see you and the faulty product, who can get the product recalled.

Yeah I agree, theres not much she can do really. It's not her fault its the companies. :P
