However, I see, on your original picture, that the batteries were Panasonic. These are not widely available, in UK shops, but do seem to be the favoured brand for Far Eastern manufacturers to supply with toys and electronic equipment.
.
You can get Panny batteries quite easliy all over the UK, Superdrug, Argos and quite a few high street shops sell them.
Luckily it happened with a bath toy as it would have diluted the acid , looking at the picture it dosent look as much has leaked.
It does seem odd that the cover dosent have a rubber seal on it, i know it sounds daft as its a boat but is it meant to go into water ?0 -

And the fault is with the batteries, not the toy.
Yes of course the fault is with the batteries. Silly me for not using waterproof batteries.
'The way you have went on' Is that a new phrase in the English language?
Imbecileeyelinerprincess wrote:And OP, I agree with the majority, yes, you may have been upset, but there's no excuse for talking to someone down the phone like that. The best approach would be to explain the problem rationally and calmly, not go in all guns blazing, shouting and swearing at someone who probably had nothing to do with the toy at all, and would only be trained to do exactly what she had done in your case.
Considering the harm this could have caused, I was calm. Where did I say I was shouting down the phone at her?dangeroussports wrote:cheap plastic toys brought by an angry man with a telephone
oh dear....
Should be bought not brought and in any case I didn't buy it. If you're going to leave a response, at least do so knowing all the facts. This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0 -

The batteries run a motor which in turn, turns a propellor which moves the boat. Pretty pointless for a toy that shouldn't be used in the bath. It was labelled as a toy for the bath. This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0 -
What exactly did you want her to do? bring your kid flowers to apologise then personally go to every shop and take it off the shelves? From what I gather in your posts the person you spoke to did everything they did - they refunded you for a faulty product and passed it on to a manager for investigation. I can't think of anything else the person on the phone could have done but I'm sure you'll come back with a rant and mention something that they could have done!0

i think they should have offered you a 100 inch lcd tv plus a supermarket sweep to include getting as much money out of the tills as possible.Followed by a round the world trip for everyone in NP...Then donated a 60 bedroomed house with swimmimg pool standing in 5million acres of land.:D

A rant? me? No way. Must have got me confused.
As for what she could have done, well like I said, she could have been a little sympathetic to the situation. She works in Customer Service. She is a representative of ASDA. Irrelevant of how much she is on, she is the first person you speak to when you ring up customer service. This country is called Great Britain. eyelinerprincess wrote: »I take offence to that post. I am probably what you would call "underpaid" I'm on minimum wage AND I am at university GAINING qualifications. At the moment, working in a shop is the one of the only jobs I can get that suit my hours.
Why would you be offended? You are gaining qualifications, I assume you are not rude to people. There is nothing wrong at all if people choose to work in the retail industry. I just object to some people using the minimum wage argument to justify rudeness. No offence to you intended whatsoever. The majority of people I know who work in shops are extremely courteous.0 -
Now on one point i understand where you are coming from but i also think you were harsh on the poor las. I work in retail and the amount of times a customer has blamed be because something we sell hasnt worked etc and shouted at me as if it was my fault and then got angry. She did what she was trained to do and would keep most customers happy. If you had kept a cool head and explained the sit then she may of forwarded it to the manager but i can tell you now there would be little she could personally do. It would have to go through a manager. This means that if one person is always dealing with it there is no confusion.
Im not saying you had no right to be angry. Gee, i would be. But your treatment of that member of staff could be classed as bullying. She probally automatically itentified you as one of 'them' customers and wasnt as happy to help.Debts: Gym £[strike]465.75[/strike] Student account [strike]£1039.88[/strike] Overdraft [strike]£129.00[/strike] Credit Card [strike]£2772.22[/strike] Loan [strike]£6222.01 [/strike]
Total £10628.86
All paid off! 10/03/2009 :j0 -
Ok, i'm just gonna stick up for the cs girl a second! I do think it's terrible what has happened btw. I worked on CS for Asda, at no point did I ask to or apply to work there. I'm manic depressive & have a personality dosorder, if a customer raises their voice etc I can't cope. At no point to Asda train us in how to deal with customers. That girl probably wanted to help but we're more limited than people think, she offered the refund bit cause that's what we have to do & I always hate doing it cause it's such a tiny amount it seems like fobbing the customer off.
Our managers leave us to deal with everything & if somethings at fault they wouldn't be able to recall it it'd be head office which she sounds like she'll be contacting cause they write to you. She can't say what they'll do cause she doesn't know. There might be a reason for it that they can identify, they might recall it etc
She might've just had an aunt die, a disgusting customer before, she may not even be trained right, I sound like she did if a customer gets narky cause it's intimidating & you just don't know what to say cause there's nothing we can do.
I really do sympathise with you & I hope head office look into it & get back to you (Logging calls doesn't work in stores, you can't say someone will get back to you in case they don't)
At my store everyone hates working the desk & most have been reduced to tears. It's an extremely difficult job. Pls don't be mad @ her, be mad @ Asda cause you think customers get it bad, trust me it's 100x worse for their workers, they don't give a ***. I hope they sort this & am glad your sons ok
Maybe now people get an idea of why nobody loves their job @ Asda!0
