I really really wish there was someone that offered threading for £4 near here! In Liverpool town centre, they're charging £20+ and there's no way I'm paying that!

I pay almost £10 just to have my eyebrows waxed.

Can someone explain what the difference is between threading and waxing? ...Well I know what they do for waxing but have no idea what threading involves.

I'd love to have my eyebrows done but have never ever had the courage. I'm mid 40's as well !!
Threading uses a twisted loop of cotton that wraps around each hair to pull it out :)

Not hard to actually do it on your leg or something, but the precision is something else!

Is it worth letting them grow a bit first to get a good shape?

When i was in LIverpool fairly recently I couldnt find anywhere on a saturday afternoon that would wax my eyebrows for me, the salons were packed!

In Debenhams there is a row of ladies doing eyebrow threading. I am really sensitive to pain and I didnt realise it was going to hurt more than waxing. I yelped, and woman forced my head down and carried on saying No, when I asked her to stop.

I laid perfectly still just letting her get on with it, and she suddlenly slipped and cut my eyebrow with the thread. It was poouring with blood, I was stood there, and she just shouted at me just GO!! and her maanger came and shood me off. My mother was speechless!

I was scurried off, I couldnt believe what had happened!

Anyway found another salon close by who did wax my eyebrows and also cleaned and cared for the cut.

    I wont have threading again!

I can't imagine a piece of cotton cutting you! Nor can I understand anyone using wax near a cut!

It sounds even more complicated than waxing , hard to believe it is cheaper !

I have my eyebrows waxed and couldnt go back to anything else, it leaves such a clean hairless finish, and when the odd hair begins to show I manage for as long as I can tweezing them myself.

I wish they did it cheaper round me though, cheapest is £9! which in my opinion is a lot of money for cotton thread & 5 - 10 minutes of their time

With waxing though you are using products - your wax strips (if using warm wax), new spatulas for every client (and if they don't, they're minging!), wax (no, really :rotfl:), pre/after wax and/or, if it's a sensitive area, post wax essential oil.

With threading it's just the loop of cotton thread :)

Most salons in my immediate area charge no more than £3.50 :undecided

Unless you dislike the shape of your eyebrows, there should be no need to grow them out :)
